I was between Texas and Kentucky...but the amount of fried chicken did not overweight my decision.

Originally, calling somebody a redneck implied certain measure of self-sufficiency and independence of that person from the "sophisticated" civilization and its ways. Modern "rednecks" are nothing like that,they are hooked on mass produced trailers, trucks, TVs, foods, NASCAR, sports, entertainment. They are true byproducts of modernity and free market mass economy, they are not rednecks.
I understand some of those states may be pretty redneck. but the list begins and ends with the deep south. georgia, alabama and mississippi.
