Now reading (The Book Thread)

Somehow or other, I came to possess a copy of Fingerprints of the Gods myself. I certainly didn't purchase it.

From memory, it's full of wacky theories about alien spaceships and the pyramids of Egypt and so on. Parts of it are entertaining enough, but none of it should be taken to be serious scholarship. It's all based on woo.

Your wrong

This book which I have read has nothing to do with " spaceships " or the like.

But with ; perhaps with .......read the book. The book is complex.

It is a good read.

I don't think so.

If I remember correctly, it was a theory on aliens visiting earth and building the pyramids and stuff.

But with ; perhaps with .......read the book. The book is complex.
I read it, but a long time ago.

It is a good read.
Better than average for pseudoscientific nonsense, admittedly. The main problem is that it picks and chooses which evidence to present and which to ignore. It's not an honest book.

Why do you feel the need to lie?
"...alien cartographers in orbiting spaceships to explain the existence of sophisticated maps of an ice-free Antarctica?" Page 28.
"...the Nazca lines have been identified by a number of observers as landing strips for alien spaceships." Page 45.
"...runways for the chariots of alien ‘gods’," Page 46.
"...visitors from another planet." Page 47.
Etc. Etc.
(For reference all quotes are from the 1995 edition published by Three Rivers Press).

Well I have the same book ; 1995 edition by Three Rivers Press ; on page 28 he talks about ; Longitude ; John Harrison ; his chronometer; nothing about aliens.

On page 45 ; THE beardered stranger

Nothing about Nazca lines or the like.

Where are you getting this nonsense?

Lets compare ISBN# 9780385258289 's

The Long Dark Tea Time of the Soul- Douglas Adams

About 1/3 of the way through. Very entertaining. The Dirk Gently character is great.

Apparently those that do though ; lie ; are the ones that beside my self that read the SAME BOOK ; but distort what is written. And then accuse me of lying; Honourable it is not. Sad really
That's OK, I havn't read the book, and am just going on the far more honourable reputation of Dywyddyr, when compared to your own, imho of course.
I see no reason why he would lie.

Neither do I pad ; but the facts are the facts.
He [ Dywyddyr]has given the facts.

Your rights to hold an opinion are not in question: Your beliefs that it be taken seriously is.

Referrence Your post #568

I need not say more ; you idiot.

Quite perceptive on my part actually. While not reading the book, I have a choice with regards to two interpretations by two members.
I mean who on this forum would most believe..yourself or Dywyddyr.
The evidence and record here, is there for all to see, along with your rather childish emotional outburst.

The only final truth is via the scientific method and peer review.
I've read enough shit such as "The BB Never Happened" and "The Burmuda Triangle" by Charles Berlitz to realize how these frauds see money and controversy in conspiracies, alternative hypotheticals and the supernatural.
No thank you.

Hard to face the Truth sometimes pad; but the Truth is the Truth .

I face it all the time river:
Let me again say that your rights to hold an opinion are not in question: Your beliefs that it be taken seriously is.
That's why the scientific method in general, although not perfect is head and shoulders above any other fabricated illogical methodology.
