Is faith a reliable path to knowledge?

Already responded to this in another thread.

Can you answer my questions please?

Thanks.
Jan.
I disagree. You don't answer things. That's how you defend a worldview that is basically indefensible.

But, how is it that I have no perception of god at all? I have stated that once in a while, under certain mental states, I have perceived hallucinations of god-like beings. I don't believe they are real, because there is no connection between those perceptions and reality, apart from the reality that I would already be aware of as the source of those hallucinations. How do you know that you aren't hallucinating?

Because no one does. No one has been able to demonstrate that they perceive god. And I don't believe you do either.

I believe that someone who makes an assertion on this forum should have evidence to support it. But in general, people believe things for many reasons, some of them bad.

I believe that someone who makes an assertion on this forum should have evidence to support it.

But that would take all the fun away from trolls and not give the rest of the serious posters something to laugh at

Be a little more PC and inclusive :)

You know - everyone gets a prize just for joining in

Yes Jonny you are correct thinking the world is square - take no notice of the other kids who always want evidence :)

:)

What is the basis of that belief?
IOW why do you believe that?

Jan
Well, for one thing, it's the rules:

"However, we retain in all areas of debate an ethos of respect for the scientific method, which demands critical analysis, clear thinking and evidence-based argument."

Does "spiritual" equate to invisible? In your view?
Why?
Yes, because it is an internal experience. A mental image.
By "scientific world" are you referring to articles and magazines?
Jan.
International scientific organizations

When was this "one time"?
When they were building cathedrals to show which religion is the most successful. Actually, in England they still make replacement panes by the same method. It's hand blown.
We now know exactly why gold turns red and the quantities required for different shades from light rose to deep red.

And this may be of general interest;

Then support this...

... You - But, how is it that I have no perception of god at all?

Me - Yes.

You - Because no one does

At what point in time was this? Jan.
Late medieval ages.
Red glass

Metallic gold, in very small concentrations (around 0.001%), produces a rich ruby-coloured glass ("ruby gold"); in lower concentrations it produces a less intense red, often marketed as "cranberry glass". The colour is caused by the size and dispersion of gold particles.

Ruby gold glass is usually made of lead glass with tin added.Pure metallic copper produces a very dark red, opaque glass. Glass created in this manner is generally "flashed" (laminated glass). It was used extensively in the late 19th and early 20th centuries and exploited for the decorative effects that could be achieved by sanding and engraving.

Selenium is an important agent to make pink and red glass. When used together with cadmium sulphide, it yields a brilliant red colour known as "Selenium Ruby".[1]

Interesting stuff.

Yeah, that's a great question, how about you stop changing the subject?

And if no one has a perception of god, then what on earth are you talking about?

Late medieval ages.

The traditional definition of "spirituality" holds refers to a religious process of re-formation which "aims to recover the original shape of man," oriented at "the image of God" as exemplified by the founders and sacred texts of the religions of the world.

Spiritual things are concerned with sacred matters or religion, affecting the spirit or the soul. Spiritual entities like ghosts lack a material body or substance.

Spiritual is the adjective form of the word spirit, which comes from the Latin word for "breath," and means the thing that animates life.

Now back to your original point. Relating to virtual particles.

And because that is the default position of the scientific world and the results seem to have worked very well, seeing the marvels of artificially constructed great works of architecture.

At one time, this display of spirituality was expressed I the beautiful cathedrals......... that still exist.

What was the display of spirituality?
