Hey yall, I've only been living here in my "passport country" for the past three and a half years, and I'm beginning to wonder if I've got some kind of innate dislike of typical Americans that have only known life in this country. I mean, at least in the Midwest, between a very geocentric mindset and a general culture that just has a kind of fake feel to it, I'm in need of reminders of why I should find my countrymen pleasant to be around. Well, not like I'm in dire need or anything, but it came to me as a neat question to put up here, I'm kind of curious how Americans and everyone else will respond. Well, if you become obsessed with everything material and shallow, then you will find Americans easier to get along with.
I think some people that complain like this would have the same feeling just about anywhere they lived. It's an internal thing...
I think you're kinda generalizing people a lil too much there. You cant just paddle everyone with the same brush to be fair. I think you get materialistic people everywhere these days cos of the way time's have changed, but i think you'll find people which suit you without looking for them. You will always be able to spot an idiot out first than the smart one. It's just the way of the world to be honest.
Well if you are with Israelis you got 100% reason to like Americans, even if you spy on them it will all be forgiven.
A short list of reasons to dig America... air-plane air-conditioner Audio / Magnetic recording # Calculator # Cellular phone # Compact disc (CD-ROM) # Computer # Dishwasher # Electric motor # Email # Fiber optics # Flashlight # Gasoline # Internet # Light bulb # Metal detector # Microphone # Microwave oven / Discovered microwaves # Modem # Motion picture (movie) # MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) Refrigerator # Space Shuttle # Stapler # Tape (masking, scotch, etc.) # Teflon # Telephone # Television # Television camera # Video game # Video recorder # Video tape # Vulcanized rubber / Tire # Washing machine # Xerox (photocopy) # Zipper
Hmm... I have nothing against the enjoyment of technological conveniences, I wish we recycled more plastic and metals like Japan. We put in the ground, materials which will not biodegrade in a hundred generations...
You're absolutely right, I am overgeneralizing here, and it's a bit of a rut my head's gotten into lately, one I'm trying to wiggle out of Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!. Yeah, materialistic people are everywhere, but it's not materialism that bugs me, it's a very heavy geocentricism that bothers me. It's something I don't think people here can help, as the only two nations near us (well, continental US anyway) are a sister-nation to the north and a nation that I feel many Americans look down upon to the south, and lots of internal space to get lost in. This being opposed to smaller and more diverse nations in Europe, Asia, and elsewhere. I'm beginning to wonder if maybe I should just get out of the midwest, and head to a coast, perhaps there's a little more of the melting-pot culture I hear so much about. Always liked the ocean too Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!.
I like how Americans like to "make that an action item". Ya pal you get right on that...oh it's an action item, for me? Fuck you.
Where i live people tend to be very nosey. This women on my street. Everytime i go anywhere she comes out of her house staring. If she walks past my house she'll try and get a glance at something. If anything at all happens she wants to know. The women is fuckin annoying. When i was out walking down the street with my girlfriend and suddenly she walked out and just gaulking at me. So i told her do u want a picture. It's like fuck some of these people around here have never been outside their lil town. Very nosey and narrow minded. It's like this in alot of places i guess, but it's just annoying. When i lived in the city no one cared about anything. No one cared about what someone else was doing they just got on with things.
I've seen Americans on T.V. and in films and frankly I don't like 'em. They all have whiny nasally voices, stupid, obese, think they can save the world by turning up at the last minute then expect all the glory. They're as fake as their silicone tits and lips and can't spell English for toffee, have a disproportionate sense of importance, think they're the World Police, allowed Bush to remain in office for his first term despite no one voting him in, then voted the ape in for a second. They have no idea what ironic actually means, nor do they understand dry wit and sarcasm. They all wish they were Canadian and think Scaughtl'nd is in Ingerland somewhere near Australia. So, weed eater guy, you're entirely justified in your distaste for Americans, as are we all.
You would hate the Chinese. And disliking every person of a country because you find many of them stupid or arrogant is, well, stupid and arrogant.
We worked hard to be fake! So stop trying to make us something we aren't. Let us be fakefull forever! Get use to it, it will eventually become second nature to you like it has with the rest of us here. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
