"As one person wrote on Twitter (TWTR), “The next debate is probably going to be a fist fight in a fast-food parking lot.” Well, not literally, of course, but all the focus last night on jabs to the face meant neither candidate really painted a picture of what they think America should look like going forward, and that was something people did want to hear."

    amen to that

Ya right. I agree in principle people would like to know what the future holds for them

As long as it is all light and fluffy and cute. Unfortunately reality has light and fluffy buried in a few thousand other options

    1) They are both rightwing authoritarians representing large corporations and rich people's interests - that vision of America has become unpopular again, in the wake of the latest Republican bedshitting.

    2) The Dems and Biden have chosen to pursue the supposed "swing voter" - that is, persuade millions of 2016 Republican voters to vote for Biden this time - and blow off everyone else. But the Republican voter, swinging or not swinging, does not listen to Dem views about what America should look like.
So there's no point in talking about them, if you are a Dem. If you want Rep votes, you have to appeal to Rep voters - talk their language.
And if you're Rep, you know you get lots more votes by jabbing liberals in the face than by anything else you do or say.

    3) And from the point of view of a candidate who cares about the welfare of the country, anyone who has listened to Trump and is still thinking about voting for him is a lost cause anyway - appealing to them by presenting a picture of America going forward that they like is at best a waste of time (if you are lying) and at worst a cause of harm to your country (if you follow through).

Indeed . To gloat or not to gloat?

After all he was meant to be looking out for the US public and by example has caused harm.

Will this event be beneficial in that arena in that the US response to the virus grows the f up ?

What has happened in Brazil since that seeming pos in charge down there went through the same experience?

    Anything good come of it?

There is little doubt that the virus has impacted on most of the White House..one could suggest easily that nearly every one in the Trump administration and the associated staff, will have suffered some level of exposure.
Apparently it was contracted by a staffer at one of Trumps rallies.

Suppose Biden dies and Trump survives ? What then?

(I mean he could well have passed it to Biden during the debate)

I guess we will know more in the next few days.
Survival is not the only issue.
The likely long term disability in elderly persons that survive needs to be considered.
I do hope the White House has a contingency plan in place.....

Could it be a lie? Political strategy? "Look, I had covid. Recovered. No big deal. I'm a warrior. Biden's still in his basement with mask on."

He's an obese fuck, so I certainly hope this kills him--but I'm not counting on it.

(And a hearty "fuck you!" to anyone who has a problem with that statement: Trump, at best, is a mass murderer and serial rapist.)

Oh gloat, I think. Definitely. After all, he would gloat like hell if his opponent got it.

I thought about that, too. Considering his shit show the other night at the debates and the fact McConnell is now starting to regret his affiliation with Trump, maybe he's just going to hang on the dl til things blow over.

Scientists confirm that the Corona virus is extremely concerned it got Trump. we all pray for the virus's recovery. Trump is suing the virus for breaking the NDA re: the illicit relations they had. But seriously, may the lord afford Trump and Melania the same mercy as he afforded infant children in chicken wire cages after ripping them off the arms of their mothers. Amen.

I don't think he would gloat .More like wish him well but with an aside that could be (mis) construed as "he had it coming" or some such put down.

Real Americans don't get sick from a little bug! The ones that do are "losers" and "suckers" and should be "culled " in the first place.....

It's more ruthless pragmatism than it is vindictiveness. The ways in which the world might benefit from his death by such means are myriad--that tens of millions of idiots would be apt to take the virus far more seriously is but one of them. And I think that whatever chaos might ensue would pale in comparison to said benefits.

Wishing death upon people simply because one loathes them is gauche, antisocial, etc., but to "wish a person well" if one believes that their death might ultimately prove beneficial is ridiculous.
