User Infractions

It's still early yet. The system has only just been opened to userland.
You're the kind of poster that will quickly accrue a large number of infractions, I deem.

Yes, I rather suspect I might. Time will tell as I skirt legalistically around the porcelain rim; Boytano has nothing on me.

I think that posters like you are an excellent demonstration of why this type of system is unsuitable for this forum.

Personally, I think that I am an excellent demonstration of why I am unsuitable for any forum.

My apologies for the foregoing; while there is indeed a strong streak of mayhem in my heart, I don't really wish to disrupt the forum. Nor to generate the uncomfortable consideration of whether spurious Infractions are, themselves an Infraction, or whether indeed calling for Infractions is itself an Infraction. Personally, I do admit some support for the "Britney Spears system" suggested previously, but only on basis of my admiration for slutty women with boob jobs.

I thank Stryder for his consideration, and wish invert_nexus a very Merry Post-Shuggothian Season and express my hopes that his soul will not be devoured when C'thulu rises from his death sleep in R'yleh, or, if it is, that it at least will be done quickly and before he is driven howling mad.

Season's Greetings and C'thulu f'tarn to one and all.

Geoff

Infractions??

I just noticed the little 'add an infraction' button.

What the hell is this??

OK.
So, I read the whole thread, and there's no explanation of the reasons an infraction might be given....

Overall though, since when did the site vote in a fascist government?

erm...you do realise giving everyone power to hand out infractions is entirely the opposite to fascism

When you click the button it provides the list:

Inappropriate Language 2 10 Day(s)
Off-Topic Posting 2 10 Day(s)
Flaming 3 10 Day(s)
Trolling / Meaningless Post Content 3 10 Day(s)
Posting Violent, Abusive or Pornographic Content 4 10 Day(s)
Spammed Advertisements 5 10 Day(s)
Insulted Other Member(s) 5 10 Day(s)

It's always been fascist.
Now it's apparently trying an experiment at anarchism.
Power to the people and whatnot.

It probably won't work out.

Thanks for that invert.

Seems exceptionally silly to me.

I'm supposed to give an infraction to lightgigantic every time he posts?

Too much work.

An automatically instituted three day ban occurs at 20 points.
So far that's the only programmed response, I believe.

It's a stab at democratic moderation. Thing is, it's open to abuse and moderators will have their time cut out chasing the abusers and trying to ascertain whether indeed the infraction was warranted or not.

Anyone using the word 'hitler' gets automatically 20 infraction points.

Luckily moderators can't get infraction points, be it from members or from using the word 'hitler'.

Otherwise I would now have accumulated 2,340 infraction points.

That's just the sort of thing they should be doing, like good little apparatchiks.

It's 2380 now.
