let's try something else. Close this firefox window, and click the start button, go to programs...and start up Internet Explorer...and view this page in IE, and try clicking the link.

Also...see if you can check your email...if you cant gain access to the site..I will download it and send it to you in an email attachment. It's only a 2.9 meg file.

I'm going to run to the beer store..be back in 10. If you can gain access to your email...send me a pm with your email address. and I will send it to you.

Mac,
Perhaps when you get a chance you could create a Youtube video tutorial on how to fix your computer in situations like this. (Then everytime a family member makes a phone call you just hand them a URL and say "D.I.Y.!" ;) )

I'm aware I'm being a right pain in the arse with all this, and I really appreciate everyone's help. I'm just new online at home and clearly have much to learn, which is a good thing-- it's good to keep the mind active, no?

When I click the link in IE, it opens up a new window telling me it cant find the page etc.

It's all good...I do this for a living...but I have to talk with little old ladies who have no business owning a computer that likes to tell stories about their grandchildren....your not even close to annoying. :p

ok...new strategy...

Click start and hit "Run" and type "msconfig" tell me if it opens a window..we want to go to the far right tab "startup" and uncheck everything and hit apply and reboot.

Hold off on that right now..I emailed you combofix. You will have to rename it "combofix.exe" from "combofix.ex" (if wouldn't let me attach a .exe file)
