let's try something else. Close this firefox window, and click the start button, go to programs...and start up Internet Explorer...and view this page in IE, and try clicking the link.

    Mac,
Perhaps when you get a chance you could create a Youtube video tutorial on how to fix your computer in situations like this. (Then everytime a family member makes a phone call you just hand them a URL and say "D.I.Y.!"

I'm aware I'm being a right pain in the arse with all this, and I really appreciate everyone's help. I'm just new online at home and clearly have much to learn, which is a good thing-- it's good to keep the mind active, no?

It's all good...I do this for a living...but I have to talk with little old ladies who have no business owning a computer that likes to tell stories about their grandchildren....your not even close to annoying.

    ok...new strategy...

Click start and hit "Run" and type "msconfig" tell me if it opens a window..we want to go to the far right tab "startup" and uncheck everything and hit apply and reboot.

Hold off on that right now..I emailed you combofix. You will have to rename it "combofix.exe" from "combofix.ex" (if wouldn't let me attach a .exe file)

If I click on any link from Google now it takes me here: http://www.blinkx.com/category/news?adid=02-100-202-300-404&p=1

I tried cut and pasting the url and it does the same thing. No matter how many times I do it, more boxes open with every attempt.
The only way I got into Sciforums is through the sub-links under the main search but Combofix doesn't have any.
