Trump 2.0

These words don't make you proud?
From anyone else, most people would be able to identify it as a dementia ward transcript. I wonder if part of the "little Eichmanns" problem you mention is just word salad fatigue - they don't push back harder because it's so draining to keep up with what comes out of TP's face hole. It's sort of an Overton Window shift in which brainless blather and mobsterish bluster becomes normalized background noise. Ten years of it, if you were a Democrat who started in late 2015 calling out the delusional garbage, the lies, the antidemocratic implications, the bigotry, the amoral indifference to human suffering....and you might just get worn down. Trump Derangement was never accurate - it's Trump Fatigue. It's like how many times does one have to point out the obvious and then watch it bounce off the neutronium skulls of the maga cultists?

With Dump, you can listen to an interview from, say, 40 years back and it really won't sound a whole lot different. He's always been incoherent and he has always rambled nonsensically. Everything else aside, the whole charisma aspect? I just don't get it. Really, every rationalization for how supposedly "decent" people can get behind this guy have always rung hollow. When you remove all the detritus, all that's left is a hateful, petty and idiotic man.

ONe thing that makes the sociopathy thing somewhat suspect though is essentially what Bill Maher said, though others have said it far more... insightfully, I guess: When you're actually around the guy, it's like he just wants you to like him. I've heard this from countless individuals far more credible and less... demented than Maher. That's odd and I don't know what to make of it. But with The Rapist, I think that deluge them with copious bullshit aspect is simply more coincidental than tactical. It's all he's capable of.

But they, as you know the story, they found his clothing rather badly ripped up. And, uh, it was a lot of shark bites, lot of, a lot of problems.
That's what happened in the movie about Alcatraz, but that's not what really happened. I'm soooo proud.

Haven't seen Escape from Alcatraz, but I read a synopsis and some general info about the waters surrounding Alcatraz. No shark bites in the movie, and likely wouldn't have happened in reality either as the sharks inhabiting the waters are not known to attack people. Is it possible that The Rapist switched the channel midway through to Jaws or something and just got confused?

Well, my bet is that he watched Sharkatraz! - a Disney+ documentary about the Alcatraz guards scaring the prisoners with stories about the sharks that supposedly inhabited the waters. :)

Such eloquence. As if Shakespeare and Aristotle had a linguistic lovechild, and the velvety tones of Morgan Freeman were instilling the very essence of its meaning directly into the reader's/listener's understanding. It makes me proud just to have been alive when those precisely constructed semantic art-forms were brought forth into this realm, a realm that had been hitherto unknowing of what it had lacked. Incomplete now made whole.
*sniff*

Guy's a dumbass.

;)

Edit: seriously. A dumbass. He's just said that playing in the 2026 World Cup (hosted by N.America) might be an incentive for Russia to end the war with Ukraine. Seriously. You can not make this up. In fact, we should run a thread to suggest outlandish ideas that no sensible person in a million years would utter, and see which Trump actually says. A Trump Bingo sort of thing.

YES! Stormy Daniels commented that Trump has an obsession with shark movies. Do you remember that mad ramble of his about electric boats and sharks?

“So I said, ‘Let me ask you a question, and [the guy who makes boats in South Carolina] said, ‘Nobody ever asked this question,’ and it must be because of MIT, my relationship to MIT —very smart. He goes, I say, ‘What would happen if the boat sank from its weight? And you’re in the boat and you have this tremendously powerful battery and the battery is now underwater and there’s a shark that’s approximately 10 yards over there?’”
(Emphasis added.)

I hate that I'm prone to getting caught up by this shit, but I simply cannot make any sense of it. This is not dementia, well, it may be, but regardless, he has always been this nonsensical. How does this happen? But more importantly, it's all just a distraction from, say, this:

Or any of a gazillion other abominations that he is facilitating.

This almost makes me weep. How can the Jewish State, of all countries on this Earth, have countenanced engineering this? These images could be from Auschwitz.

We are all lectured solemnly every year to remember the Jewish Holocaust, even nations like Britain that helped to bring it to an end.....and now Israel - Israel - does this.

Do you think the US could soon have a Sharknado protection system over its coastal cities? Could also do double duty against illegal immigrants parachuting in. This will be the biggest most beautiful antishark system in the history of the world!

Does anyone have any idea what the massive bigly announcement Trump has planned before he heads off to the ME to make more billions?

Probably the "deal" with the UK aimed to reduce tariffs. Will be interesting to see what Starmer has gifted away.
I understand, however, that this is merely announcement of a framework for a trade deal, so a far cry from a full blown trade agreement (as the UK reached with India recently after 3 years of negotiation). So this will be limited in scope, probably looking to carve out some key items from the 10% tariffs, in exchange for some reductions in tariffs for some US goods (not food, though).
Obviously bigged up by Trump, but he has to take even small wins these days. And bear in mind that UK/US trade was pretty balanced to start with.

In his defense though, he does wear shoes on an airplane. So there's that...

Yes, Sharknado is one of my favourite utterly mindless film concepts. Up there with "Night of the Lepus" and "Plan Nine from Outer Space". Though the last named will probably never be surpassed for its abysmal production values and terrible continuity blunders.

I hope Steamer has had the sense not to allow import of anything that could fall foul of EU regulations. It is far more important that the UK retains to flexiblity to reach a closer deal with the EU than anything on offer from the US, sales of Jags included.

Would have been nice if he could have held out for a concession on Climate Change. (anything that could flatter his ego)

If he needs a deal more than the rest of the world then maybe we could turn the screw. (maybe include the timing and side courses of the visit to the King, who is weak of course)

This really isn't worth the significance that the stock-markets seem to be putting on it. Hey ho.
It's not exactly comprehensive, but just helps reduce tariffs on some items, while not giving away too much. Sure, we're buying some Boeings, and we've effectively capped the car export volume, but aluminium and steel are tariff-free now. Woohoo?
The big thing was allowing beef imports from the US, but importantly with no reduction in our standards. Which seems reasonable, as that was our big concern. So no chlorinated chicken, no beef pumped full of hormones etc.

The US seem to think it will add $5bn to exports. Okay. That's an extra 8-9% in what they already export to us. Not huge.
Typically Lutnick is still crowing about how the US's coffers will still be enriched by c.$5bn from the tariffs that are remaining in place... it's as though he still thinks that the UK is paying those monies, rather than the US importer. Ah, well.

There are still areas for them to hash out, it seems. Notably pharmaceuticals. But Starmer and his negotiators are wholly aware of the "Hands off our NHS!" stance. And we haven't negotiated away the 2% digital sales tax on the large on-line entities. So there's that.

Basically I think it is good headlines for Trump, but really not sure it's worth the hype it has been, and undoubtedly will be, given.
And it's basically not a deal that could not have been made at any time. It doesn't significantly alter the dial on the tariffs, and it's not benefitting either side all that much. Ah, well.

Consider me... "meh"ified.

Seems a fair analysis. I see some Tory Brexshitter has been crowing about it being “another” Brexshit benefit:rolleyes:. But better than a poke in the eye and helps carry on selling Jags to the Yanks.

I suspect the Trumpies are desperate to show his tariff strategy is yielding bilateral deals. They did promise 90 deals in as many days, or something ridiculous, didn’t they? So they absolutely have to have something to show the MAGA faithful. Steamer has capitalised on that, by the look of it.
