My Proposal Banned...

Cheski,
You've been politely warned by Tiassa not to peddle your hate ridden warez. Hate is Hate no matter what way you look at it. Discussion on the subject itself is folly, the arguments are lame from both sides since both think they are right (and incidentally both are wrong) so there is no point trying to hash it out on here.

CheskiChips:

In general, I thought your debate proposal was pretty mindless.

Having said that, I would be interested in seeing you and SAM have a formal debate on a similar topic.

For example: "Who has the greatest right to the land in Israel, the Gaza Strip and the West Bank?"

Perhaps you can argue for the Jewish/Israeli people, and SAM can argue for the Palestinians.

We could make it a three-way debate, with somebody else arguing for a two-state solution, for example.

I suggest that this only goes ahead if both you and SAM agree, for a start.

So...?

Yes, as I can empirically prove where the PLO came from. That there were never recognized Palestinians, and precisely why there is conflict today.

That's cute draqon, bring up Matzada. The Jews should have never fought back against Rome...right? The difference is the Jews existed as a nation for 400 years...and the Palestinians never did.
So racial or religious nationhood is the only valid way to have a right to owning land?

I am not sure we can say that Native Americans had nations, in the usual sense this term is used. Nevertheless their treatment was pretty immoral and they were, indeed, often robbed of their land.

If there's one minority I feel truly bad for, it's the native americans of both continents. They were mistreated in horrible ways, then forced off their sacred lands, then genocide was committed against them.

I'd rather see a formal debate about the proper usage of the word 'is' between myself and Simon. I'll take noun, Simon, you take verb. How about it?

I guess I'll feel bad about the palestinians when the Israelis gas them out of existence or something. I have them marked as "unfortunate situation".

If I say 'is' is clearly a verb, I haven't noticed my own sentence makes it a tie.

will is more than is for it speaks to the future. All things future are(is) now hypothetical. Which is correct-Simon Anders is in 10 minutes or Simon Anders will be in 10 minutes? POOF! I just made YOU hypothetical! :D

Notice: which is correct, not which will be. Now determines truth. I rest my case.

Notice-you did just type your response. That is has ceased to exist. To be technical, nothing exists, because as I type each letter, that is ceases to exist. All thigs will be or have been. The state of is now will always be and has always been illusory at best, delusional at worst. Now, pick up that case.

My post is dangling in a long term now. I am afraid your case has no handle.

long term now. LOL That was as nonsensical as something smelling of starlight. Now-is. whups! NOW-is. Whups! Gone again. NOW-is. Nope. I'm sorry, have you put your case to rest? Was it that bad off?

are you going to tell me that SAM does not have the fragrence of starlight?

Notice also the post you referred to is still dangling there.

As for the rest of your post there is no need to case it. (I'm a guy, I can commit suicide by pun)

how punny. Sam smells of lavender and lilacs, not starlight. The post remains as historical reference. It no longer is current, however. Or are you typing it now?

Think of it like this. <Has been-----is-----will be> is will never be anything more than a point in time, in comparison to the rays of what was and what will yet be.

I'd say that yours is lower-case while mine is upper-case.
