Descent II, best of the series from my view.

I got MDK off abandonia a year or so ago - I liked it but never quite figured out what it was supposed to be about, I prefer something a little more immersive than "run around and shoot stuff"

I played the game when I was still 13 and it was sure an experience for me...I came from Russia, the most games I got there were all 2D "catch the mouse" :p and "tanks" games. And here I was immersed in this 3D environment.

I think I must have found pussy about that time...yet I remember....80's Games rule...

They were indestructable you could whack them, smack them, jump on them and they would still work....I wonder if any users of the ZX 80 are about (that was 'en peu' before my time)

I got dosbox but it's still hugely fast. I'm trying to find a "slowage" program; saw something about some mod in a forum once. Man, I really wish they'd add more in that series. Can't tell me there wouldn't be a big return on that. They did Defender, didn't they? But I heard it sucked.

I don't know if any of this will solve your problem, but I managed to run the dos version of apoc on a pretty new machine by following all this:

Best of luck with it Geoff.

There is only one futuristic sports game that was ever worth a toss - but that turned out to be one of the greatest games of all time.

Thanks - now I have to get my amiga working again to play it. I hope you're happy for changing my entire weekend plans :p

First football game I played. Absolutely loved it.
I still remember attempting to play a full 90 minute match against my brother, didn't even finish the first half - but if I recall correctly, I was winning.

You could always run it off an Emu - the megadrive/genesis verion is identical in every way to the amiga version - get one of the genesis emu's like Genecyst and then hunt down a ROM. then you can play it on yer PC

There's also a fairly recent GBA version, but - while its a good conversion - its not absolutely faithful - so the gameplay just isn't the same
