  • 1: Uninstall Norton
  • 2a: either: try using Hijackthis again to create a log, otherwise use Task Manager to note down what processes are loaded (We can then identify what virus you have and how to get rid of it) [Don't forget you can send screenshots by ALT+Printscreen and pasting to a paint program etc]
  • 2b: or: download Spybotsearch and destroy or one of the others mentioned to try and deal with the infestation.
  • 3: Update your OS if it's not up to date
  • 4: either reinstall Norton or download from http://free.grisoft.com (AVG)

And Combofix wont work either. I get the same Oops! message as when I try to connect to other removal sites.

...still uninstalling Norton...
It'staking a very long time..,.almost as if it doesn't want to go...

Click the start button...the browser listed at the top of the list is your default browser..if it looks like a big blue lower case "e" then you using internet explorer (bad)..if says "mozilla firefox" then your default browser if fire fox.

So we are clear on what's happening...when you click on the link I provided for combofix...what does it do?

I'm at the Your Google Toolbar has been updated blah blah blah... page. Is this good?

If it downloads..just double click on the file, say ok to the warning...and let it run...don't do anything else on your machine while it is running..as it can cause it to hang.

http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe

When you click this link it should go straight to the file download screen, where you press "save file". If it does anything else..let me know

Huh? What file?
(I'm sorry about being this shit, I'mnot usually this much of a gonzo...)

I see it now. Wasn't there a min ago! (I tell ya, this fucking computer's really starting to write its ticket...first not working properly then making me look like a mong...)
Still waiting for Norton to uninstall, then I'll hit the link.

cool...Norton is fucking huge..and will probably take a long time to unintall...especially if you have viruses on your machine slowing things down. You'll have to restart your machine after the uninstall. I'll hang out and wait for your response.

This is what I got when I clicked the link:

Unable to connect

Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at download.bleepingcomputer.com.

* The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few
moments.

* If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network
connection.

* If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure
that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.

I forgot to report EXACTLY what happenned.
After that link didn't work, I invented 3 new swearwords and frightened the cat.
Then had a cigarette.
