Wurst post ever!

Xystus -a covered walkway for exercises. Sorry, can't find an amusing photo for this one. Nothing amusing about xysti anyway...

May I suggest, as our next topic, the category of food, which may include food in it's basic forms or dishes made from these, as example, 'shallots' or 'soup'. As we are a diverse community, I would hope to see some less common and/or regional offerings.

Include a picture with your choice, please. :)

Well, I like nothing better than a nice dish of baked zumbooruk camel, so could we start at Z and work backward? :p

Seriously, zumbooruk was a superior contribution, especially after that wurst one ever.

Here we go again:

Very well.

Our first delicacy is from Cambodia and is called A-ping or fried tarantula spiders. Enough said. They eat it as a snack or fry it as a stir-fry.

I have absolutely no desire to travel to a place where tarantula spiders are this numerous.

Casu Marzu- Coming to us from Sardinia, this dish is best described as a sheep milk cheese containing live insect larvae. The scariest part? Although the larvae are only about 8mm long they can launch themselves up to 15cm when disturbed. Bon apetit!

I tried Dragon Fruit for the first time in my life just a few weeks ago and those funny looking things are actually very tasty. Somewhere between a Kiwi Fruit and melon, at least this variety. They also come with a dark pink interior but we did not have those ones at the store.

Edamame

Edamame or edamame bean is a preparation of immature soybeans in the pod, found in the cuisine of China, Japan, Indonesia and Hawaii. The pods are boiled or steamed and served with salt

Actually, this is to the Japanese, as popcorn is to Americans... You go to a baseball game, this is the most sought after snack.

Inca Berries

(aka cape gooseberries or, ground cherries, or husk cherries)
Here’s yet another superfood native to South America (along with goji berries and quinoa, to name a few!). Incan berries are packed with vitamins C and A, iron, niacin, and phosphorous. They’re also high in protein (especially for a berry!) and fiber. When eaten, they start off with a sweet flavor and finish with a bit of a sour twist.
