Does mind control exist?

Just wondering who here thinks mass mind control exists?
Basically a few confused delusional people believe that and some schizophrenic people believe they are experiencing mind control. I do not fall into either of those groups so my answer is no.

In a roundabout way... yes, mind control exists. There are certain substances that can leave a person incredibly susceptible to suggestion, then there's the use of suggestive thinking and subliminal messages. It isn't "mind control" per say (you are not likely to do something you would be intuitively against) but rather it relaxes your inhibitions.

If the government tells you that Iran is a bad country you believe them because it is your government and it is supposed to tell the truth, but does it? When can anyone tell the difference between a lie and the truth when it all depends on which side of the fence you stand about anything. If you support your government, like billions do, then you are being influenced by them.

This is sadly true as well... too many sheep, not enough free-thinkers :(

No, not literally.

But I think that we are getting closer and closer, the way that self-righteous moral elites dominate education and the mass media in the Western world. It's especially apparent among adolescents and young adults, many of whom share very similar opinions, while all the time imagining themselves as rebels and free-thinkers.

I suspect that things are very different and at the same time very similar in other parts of the world, like China and the Islamic world. The nature of the culturally dominant elites is different, but their effect on mass-thought is pretty much the same.

It's all about intrinsics, omniscience that is.

A good example of mind control is that 90% of black community votes for the democrat party, even though so many blacks have remained stuck, over the past 50 years of democratic party influence. This is a good example of mind control. They are like a wife living with an abusive and neglectful husband, whom she loves. She is conditioned to remember the good ole days, and not her dire present. The husband has her convinced outside their house is what she should fear. He has her convinced the other guy is why she is in this situation, even though she never gave the other guy a chance, to learn the truth.

BS

Talk to someone who is hooked on fox news. Mind control exists.

I regularly watch Fox news, precisely because it presents an alternative point of view. Preserving a diversity of opinion is a vital to preventing mind-control.

How does denouncing and presumably ideally eliminating dissenting voices from the media, from education and from government, creating a uniformity of opinion where particular agendas and presuppositions become the only ideas that people encounter, establishing those ideas as the unexamined common-assumptions of a whole society, further the cause of free and independent thought?

So... instead, they should vote for the Republicans who just voted to sell off the National Forests? (<- This is a URL... stupid software makes it grey instead of blue) Is that what I'm getting out of your statement?

That never happened, Kittamaru.

Senate Amendment 838 (to the 2016 Budget) makes it possible for federal lands to be transfered to state and local governments without violating the terms of the budget, provided that it's budget-neutral and neither creates revenue or increases the deficit.

SA 838 doesn't require that any federal lands be sold and it doesn't mention National Forests anywhere in its text.

Look it up yourself at senate.gov

Apparently some environmental activist made these over-the-top charges on the NY Times editorial page. Then some of the less critical corners of the lefty-media picked it up and have started repeating it around the internet.

What gives it plausibility on the left is the hatred that the left already has for Republicans. The left are primed to believe the very worst about those they hate. It reminds me of the 'birthers' on the right, people who are ready to believe anything negative about Obama, because they hate him so.

In real life, 47% of the land in the eleven 'lower 48' western states is owned by the federal government, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) primarily. Much of it is grazing land. (84.5% of Nevada's territory is federally owned.) There might be any number of reasons to transfer some of that acreage to state or local control.

I'm not so sure...

That part there sound like it could be horribly, horribly abused... there is a lot of currently "protected" land not enshrined in Natl. Parks/Monuments/Preserves that is now able to go on the chopping block

...mind...control...as in lacking any self-control, maybe, darksidZz?

I just have to be quoting somebody else if I Post : "...if you do not control your own mind, someone will control it for you...".

Personally, darksidZz, it has to exist, at least on some levels...if History is any indication.

“The smart way to keep people passive and obedient is to strictly limit the spectrum of acceptable opinion, but allow very lively debate within that spectrum - even encourage the more critical and dissident views. That gives people the sense that there's free thinking going on, while all the time the presuppositions of the system are being reinforced by the limits put on the range of the debate.”
