US ready to strike Iran by spring

The Sunni insurgency has been much more deadly to American troops, why no condemnation of Saudi Arabia?

For the same reason that all US forces were precipitously withdrawn from ther, and for the same reason that 9-11 leads were never pursued into the Kingdom. The House of Sa'ud is only being kept from falling in with constant whitewash. Now that the Shi'a-majority Eastern Province (containing the major oilfields and terminals) is being politically agitated from the north, things are sheikhier than ever before.

If the devices are made in Iran, why are the dates stamped in English?

Samcdkey, I guess english is the universal language of military hardware...

I haven't heard much mention of this:

In 2003, U.S. Spurned Iran's Offer of Dialogue

It was a proposal from Iran for a broad dialogue with the United States, and the fax suggested everything was on the table -- including full cooperation on nuclear programs, acceptance of Israel and the termination of Iranian support for Palestinian militant groups.

But top Bush administration officials, convinced the Iranian government was on the verge of collapse, belittled the initiative. Instead, they formally complained to the Swiss ambassador who had sent the fax with a cover letter certifying it as a genuine proposal supported by key power centers in Iran, former administration officials said.

Is it? Seems weird to me. From what I know of Iran, not many people there can understand English. What would be the purpose of having dates in a language not understood by the local people (whether in Iran or people elsewhere in the ME)?

Thats not the only overture from Iran. They are still asking to talk.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has insisted that Tehran is open to talks on its nuclear programme.

Speaking to US TV network ABC, he said he opposed any increased nuclear proliferation, but said Iran's rights must be safeguarded.

He denied suggestions he sought conflict with the US, saying Iran was "trying to find ways to love people".

Anyway, I find the whole premise very silly.

The Shia of Iran are supporting the Shia of Iraq!!!!!!!!

Duh! only since the last 1400 years.

Al Quida blew up a shiite shrine. Are we actually going to fight a country that is fighting Al Quida?

Hmm why not? After all the US is fighting Shias in Iran and Lebanon and supporting their supporters in Iraq. Not to mention fighting Sunni insurgents in Iraq, supported by their allies, the Saudis.

So Sam, the fact that is says 81MM and HE is OK but the date makes it suspicious? Your lack of Military knowledge is apparent as usual.

What do you have to say about the 100+ Austrian sniper rifles found in Iraq that were sold to the Iranian government last year? Is Austria supporting the insurgents?

"100+ Austrian sniper rifles found in Iraq that were sold to the Iranian government last year?"

You mean Steyr HS50s found in Iraq? I know of the hubub over the sale of 800 to Iran, but nothing about them turning up in Iraq. What are your source(s) for that claim, crazy151drinker?

Not so hasty-

1. The Daily Telegraph is a Murdoch tabloid.
2. The article cites no sources whatsoever (typical of the Tele's wilder stories).
3. The US Govt hasn't touched it.

Let's see a credible source for this allegation, and then consider it.

I'm betting the insurgents have a lot more weapons from the US and Saudi Arabia.

What do you think?
