I just thought of this subject, it could be fun :D Let's see, perhaps the best unknown movies I would say I know of are:

1. Screamers (Sci-Fi tremors underground attack people)
2. Count of Monte Cristo (Original, released on DVD because the Korean leader likes it)

Yep also I like

3. Shadow Hours (nice movie about gas station worker that goes berserk)

:D

Any suggestions?

wow, wow, wow... wow wow! I LOVE movies so THANKS for this thread as I am certain I will pick up some killer suggestions.

I have so many esoteric movies under my cap that I don't know where to start, but a favorite culty of mine is certainly The Ninth Configuration. Also, MR Belvedere Goes To College with Clifton Web is one of the most hilarious and cool movies I have ever seen.

so many more...could I ask you to request possibly a specific type of movie genre?

I own that one, great movie.

The Boondock Saints I like.
Downfall (Der Untergang) is awesome.
The Legend of 1900 I found charming.
Mystery Men is witty and understated.

Recent one I watched: Dante 01 - bit weak at the end, but otherwise good.

A must see for any computer nerd.

For anyone who has seen it and remembered it:
One of the end scenes where the NSA agent was asking the crew what they wanted in return, River Phoenix's character responds by pointing to an attractive blond NSA agent at the scene and says, "I want her phone number." She immediate recites it to him. For anyone paying close attention, she cited a real phone number, not a 555...
My friends and I called it and a voicemail came on with that actresses' voice and said, 'Hey all you Sneakers' fans. Thanks for calling...blah blah blah'. It was pretty cool.

Withnail and I...

...or possibly Amelie, which is a French film, and fairly widely known about.

Das Boot
awesome movie!!

That is not unknown but was very popular, even with the german subtitles.

Director Fritz Frasier went on to become Admiral of the third fleet of fishing trawlers off the coast of Alaska. A stout and robust man he smoked a pipe and had a white beard and was known for say:

"how goes it?" to everyone he met. he died poor and famished at the age of 94 and he kept the uncashed check for directing DasBoot which was for $127.50
