Frog

The frog is a collective name for all those amphibians whose ancestor was once specialized in jumping. They are characterized by a tadpole stage living usually a herbivorous life in the water, followed by a carnivorous adult form living on land.

Naturally, there are now variations on this theme and maybe some day someone will come and enlighten us.

  • French people are known as frogs. Possibly because they are slimy, but why not call them hagfish then?
