Denmark is a flat country in Europe.

The Danes

Like the inhabitants of many other small European nations, Danes are principally despised for being from a small European nation, and for their penchant for marrying animals.

Danelanders are the descendants of the axe-carrying, blood-drinking, pointy-hat-wearing Vikings and who at one time conquered Sweden, Iceland, Greenland (pfft), East Korea and part of Northern England. This inevitably leads to the question: "What happened?"

No one knows, but it is presently an argument of old debate as to whether or not the Danish Army could be handed their arses by the likes of Canada. Oh, the shame. In related news, Canada and Denmark may end up duking it out over the rightful possession of large blocks of useless ice in the Arctic, if either nation finds a boat seaworthy enough to paddle out and ask the Americans for a lift.

"Dane" should not be confused with Dane Cook. One of these two is a rough-bearded individual who likes to shout, wave his arms menacingly and make off with local women. The other is from Denmark.

Geography

Although Denmark is rather flat it is not entirely flat. The HimmelBjerge is a massive 147m high. This is approximately twice the distance a small child could throw a ball in the air. This mountain is dwarved by the highest peak in the Netherlands, the Vaalserberg which is 323m high. So, in the "Nyaa Nyaa My Country Isn't As Flat As Yours" pissing contest, the Netherlands wins. Denmark, however, wins in the "Not Quite Dumb Enough to Construct a Nation Below Sea Level" category.

Both countries fail abysmally, however in the "Not A Tiny Dinky European Nation" contest, which is open to any nation having discovered the utility of fire.

Denmark and Capitalism

Denmark is a nation with many socialist values at its core making it a typical example of a social welfare state. At the same time Denmark is in an excellent economic shape. Denmark is reducing its debt rapidly (compared to for instance the US where the public debt has gone from 64.7% of GDP (2005) to 71.6% of GDP in 2006).

  • Danish public debt = 37 % of GDP at the end of 2003
  • Danish public debt = 22 % of GDP at the end of 2006

See this thread[1].

Regrettably, however, Denmark has used most of these available funds to construct additional statues of mermaid sirens around its ports in the hopes of luring unsuspecting passing ships close enough to sink them and steal their goods by pelting them with Lego or - worse still - trick them into landing and buying cheese.

Sciforums and Denmark

Letters to Denmark

Several members of sciforums have written a letter to Denmark[2]. Notice the highly embarrassing first letter to Denmark by spuriousmonkey which he ruined by accidentily editing it. In these letters Denmark is praised and questions are asked concerning Denmark. The letters are all replied to by Denmark or its unauthorized representatives.

A Danish Drivers license

A Danish drivers license will set you back around 1500€[3].
