Blacker than black

a term used in television. TV signals are transmitted inverted meaning that at zero volts the scene is white, at approx. 100 volts the scene is black. blacker than black means to drive the signal in excess of 100 volts.

note: 100 volts is an arbitrary number. it could be 50 or so. this is measured at the CRT grid.
