My name is actually a reference to the song “Pinball” by Brian Protheroe, released in 1974. When I was a kid, My mum used to get me in the kitchen to listen to songs on the radio.

She loved the line, “and the cats just finished off the bread.” It made her laugh. I just loved the mood of the whole song, it was dream-like, like he had just woken up.

I got the chords off the net years later and there is a beautiful descending line there which may have caught my ear even at that young age. I was 7 in 1974.

I checked on wiki what the song is about, he wrote it after splitting with girlfriend in London and was obviously just bumming around at his mates drinking and thinking about her and feeling down about life.

I think pinball to him, was just the fact his head was all over the place and he was bouncing around from one thing to another just like the balls in the pinball machine.

Fifty years later (wow that went rather quick) the song still resonates with me. I split with Ex a while ago and had that same weekend.

The relationship was not working so I told her to move out and she did. My first Friday night of freedom after work I dressed up, made myself handsome and went for a beer, alone. Then a meal, alone.

I remember thinking, “This is what you wanted right?”

It was the right thing to do but it was also the saddest night of my life. The 1970 part of the name is a reference to a great year in music plus Beatles final album.

Isn't double kick drumming extremely taxing physically? Well, drumming for heavy music in general takes a toll. Maybe you should try another variety of "heavy", like Adrienne Davies does with Earth. I love how she really gets into it by actually moving in slow motion:

I hate it. Unfortunately we do some Cozy Powell Rainbow and he has some key double BD parts.
I do some pretty good cheats as I learnt a few tricks trying to copy guys like Ian Paice but they are cheats.

Cheat. I play it a little slower then faster, probably faster than the record.
The bass drum is not keeping up and I am struggling with the fills too.
