That is not what I'm saying and it is not my point.

My point is Trump is tearing up agreements his country has made (in this case agreed by him, actually), trying to bully his neighbours by linking trade tariffs to delusional (or made up) non-trade objectives, and even hinting at threats of invasion.

This behaviour must be shown to be unacceptable and counterproductive to the US.

The USA under Trump's leadership is clearly highly aggressive, contemptuous of international rules of behaviour, and not to be trusted.

It will be a positive outcome for Trump and his billionaire donors who support him. Not so much positive for anyone else. With the new tariffs it is estimated the cost of living will rise about $3500 annually for the average family. Since many average families have less than $500 for any given emergency, you can probably guess the outcome.

But let's assume your judgment is correct, and they weren't very effective. What little effectiveness they did have will evaporate once they are disbanded, and fentanyl smuggling will increase.

In his first term, Trump attended some world summit meeting where a camera and mic were pointed at Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau in which the PM made some remarks towards Trump that went viral. Trump is punishing Trudeau for that now with his tariffs. With Mexico, it's because the President is a woman. I understand how petty this sounds, but we are talking about Trump.

It's far more serious than that. In a social media post today, Trump claims without billions of dollars of "subsidies" (what can he mean - is this a trade deficit the US runs with Canada? ) "Canada ceases to exist as a viable country". Therefore, he says, it should become the 51st state of the US, whereupon there would be no tariffs.

This looks a lot like a threat to bring Canada to its knees economically unless it agrees to annexation.

Today's speeches by Trudeau and Carney (a possible successor to Trudeau) are wartime speeches.

We have real threats in the world today, from Russia, China and others. Yet Trump starts a war with Canada. Canada! He's a fucking psychopath.
 
The "subsidies" are indeed what he calls the trade deficits. But his base will just lap it up and assume that the US really is sending money to Canada for no particular reason (i.e. an actual subsidy). That's why he gets it wrong - to stoke the fire, fan the flames etc.

I go back and forth on this. Sure, some 15 to 20 percent are simply incapable and I don't really fault them. As for the rest? They're smart enough to know better. They're connected to the internet 24/7--way more than me, incidentally, I don't have a stupid phone and we don't get coverage where we live anyway--so how can they possibly be this ill-informed? The answer is not that they're falling prey to these massive disinformation campaigns--again, most people are not that fucking stupid. (And if we're gonna pretend that people really are this fucking stupid, should we be trusting them with... well, anything? I mean, do you really want someone who is that fucking stupid pumping gas, say?) Their ignorance and stupidity is very much willful. They're selfish, entitled, bigoted pricks. And, yes, they are that way because that's how they were brought up. But like I said, most serial killers and other monsters also had shitty upbringings--that does not exonerate them.

Also, they're uneducated and do not know how to think critically. Surely they possess at least some awareness of this (and show me the non-joke science on Dunning-Kruger). So why the fuck are they voting? I don't do dangerous shit that I don't know anything about, because I don't want to get anyone killed! Funnily, I'm fairly confident that most of the people I'd get killed, I wouldn't even like in the first place--and, yet, I still don't do it! Yet these people do, and by my definition that makes them fucking scum and pieces of shit.

Edit: I was gonna add that while these people skew towards the poorly educated, they are not, in fact, the working poor. Trump supporters are largely petty bourgeoisie, and not proles. Consider January 6: Poor people do not just drop everything on a dime and travel to DC to storm the Capitol. That takes some measure of financial security. But this is another subject entirely--see post-Weimar Germany and the rise of Naziism.

I wouldnt worry, Rusia is LARGEST country in t world and self suficient in ALL natural resources,they have no need to take over anyone. Ukrain shtshow would never hapen IF WE ( the cia) didnt overthrow its Gov and put neonazi zelinsky dictator in power.
And broke promise to Rus not to expand NATO closer to their border.

One of the weakest aspects of the Trump/Hitler comparison is that Hitler was actually kinda competent--even, to an extent, when he went off the deep end. For instance, financing war operations by plundering isn't an entirely nonsensical scheme--there is certainly historical precedent for it being successful. Moreover, in a twisted sort of way, Hitler did also care about the plight of Germany. Trump plainly doesn't give a shit about anyone other than himself, and neither the fate of Americans nor allies matter in the least. This is just idiocy and narcissism.

I think some of Hitler's last words were to the effect that his country had failed him/or were undeserving of his vision.

I don't think he cared about his people or any other.

I have a feeling that the stories about Trump reading (if he can read) Mein Kampf may have been true.

He may have studied the way he came to power.
