The FDA cracks down on "jack3d"...a pre workout stimulant. Why?

Just quickly...no not for weight loss. This product is to improve performance in a sport.
That might be worse! Athletes frequently abuse their bodies worse than people who are trying to lose weight.

I've been a runner/cyclist for a while and turned to weight lifting two years ago. It is primarily designed for weight lifting. I'm lifting heavier now. And this product helps you lift heavier.
Your choice. But I hope you are under a doctor's care. A GP, not a sports doctor!

Anyway. I will try to cut back. I think I should even though its a kick ass product.
If you're a professional athlete, your whole life revolves around this, and your income depends on it, you might do a rational risk analysis and decide that this risk is worth it. But if this sport doesn't dominate your life, think it over.

That said, who am I to talk? The lifelong caffeine addict. It has never caused me any physical grief, but the behavior modification from the psychological effect has ruined my life three times.

It's on the banned list for athletes.

In the UK, just last week, two soldiers died while training on a fiercely hot day, possibly/probably from heart failure.
No drugs involved, just a will to carry on beyond normal endurance levels.
Unless people are monitored, they will sometimes kill themselves in pursuit of some goal.

You can be sure that if there was a trace of any stimulant in their blood, it would be blamed on the stimulant.

No doubt about it. Never mind the conditions surrounding the death.
Thing is...it's a strong supplement so if u take too much (three scoops or more in 24 hours) you're entering a danger zone.

So here's something. I get this email from a friend who works in the health/supplement world and he tells me jack3d is going to be pulled yet again. Just ban it for good already. I find it odd these "recalls" and then it's back on the shelf.

hmmm...there's a story there. lol

Complete waste of time banning it.
They'll just tweak the molecule, and put it back on the shelf.
The replacement may be worse than the original.

the thing is...these are not bans. bans mean...done...finished.
this is like a recall. lol
*shrug*

Maybe it is a sales trick. If you hear that your favorite product is going to be banned, what do you do? You stock up like crazy....

haha now THAT i had not thought of. good point. ;)

welp. i'm officially done with this product. finished it up today, before the gym...had a stellar workout. hit a squat PR. yay!
BUT....really don't feel so good right now. jittery. and just ...idk...very strange.
i'm truly done. i don't want to feel 'this' way. :(

thanks for helping me sort through it all.
i think it's a GREAT product for improving performance at the gym, with your sport, etc.
BUT, the key is moderation. when you start taking it every few days, it isn't a good thing.

here's to health! :)

Testosterone injections?
Please!
You should be ashamed of bringing that up here.

No talk about such minor drugs.
This is a thread for Jack addicts, their heartbroken families,
their dealers, and concerned bystanders.

If this isn't the right place for this, please relocate it.

I take a pre workout stimulant called jack3d, which its main active ingredient is 1,3 dimethylamylamine. There have been reports of heart attacks etc due to this product. If you take it as suggested, there should be no issues unless u have a medical condition.

So, the FDA cracked down and it was taken off the shelves for a while. I don't believe it had ever been FDA approved. So my question is...for those who understand chemistry well, is this truly harmful to me? It is a caffeine derivative. I weight lift and this stim helps with focus and energy mainly.

If you all agree it is harmful then I will stop taking. But, when the FDA approves drugs like Viagra and the like...I have to wonder what its motive is for pushing to ban this product?

This is the only pre workout stim that has this as an ingredient. It's strong but again, taken correctly..you should have no issues.

Look forward to your thoughts on this and why the FDA got involved?

Thanks! :)
From what I have read and herd from others, people were using it incorrectly and not following the recommended dosing. I used jack3d and a lot of other people did too. I think its only harmful to those that don't know how to read or choose ignore dosing instructions. Same with any other type of drug. Anything done in large amounts isn't "good or healthy", and that can go for just about anything.
