I think Sciforums should definitely become electric. What is our carbon footprint anyway? Plazma, let's raise some money for solar panels!

Trout Mask Replica
We saw Captain Beefheart (Don Van Vliet) play several times in Hollywood. One crazy dude, and he was much better live than recorded.

Sadly, he gave up music almost 30 years ago to devote his life to art. Although it was a wise move for him, he's been much more successful at it. The art world is far more sanguine about weird stuff than the music world.

I behold you,
noble, glorious and whole woman,
the pupil of purity.
You are the sacred matrix
in which God takes great pleasure.

The essences of Heaven flooded into you,
and the Great Word of God dressed itself in flesh.

You appeared as a shining white lily,
as God looked upon you before all of Creation.

O lovely and tender one,
how greatly has God delighted in you.
For He has placed His passionate embrace within you,
so that His Son might nurse at your breast.

Your womb held joy,
with all the celestial symphony sounding through you,
Virgin, who bore the Son of God,
when your purity became luminous in God.

Your flesh held joy,
like grass upon which dew falls,
pouring its life-green into it,
and so it is true in you also,
o Mother of all delight.

Now let all Ecclesia shine in joy
and sound in symphony
praising the most tender woman,
Mary, the bequeather/seed-source of God.

She'll come, she'll go
She'll lay belief on you
Skin sweet with musky odor
The lady from another grinning soul

Cologne she'll wear
Silver and Americard
She'll drive a beetle car
And beat you down at cool Canasta

And when the clothes are strewn
Don't be afraid of the room
Touch the fullness of her breast
Feel the love of her caress
She will be your living end

She'll come, she'll go
She'll lay belief on you
But she won't stake her life on you
How can life become her point of view

And when the clothes are strewn
Don't be afraid of the room
Touch the fullness of her breast
Feel the love of caress
She will be your living end

She will be your living end
She will be your living end
She will be your living end
She will be your living end

David Bowie: Lady Grinning Soul
One of my favorite songs from my favorite Bowie album.

It was David who brought my wife and me together. In 1975, when I was 32, it was almost impossible to find another person over 30 who would admit that he ever liked rock and roll. "Oh no, I listen to jazz and folk music. Rock is okay for dancing but I would never actually sit and listen to it."

A friend took me to this lady's house, and I walked in and saw the "Aladdin Sane" album lying on her coffee table. We started going to concerts together and eventually romance bloomed. We still have a shrine to Bowie on our mantle. I made a needlepoint rendition of the "Aladdin Sane" album cover, with metallic yarn for the lightning bolt.
