Salvia Divinorum

A crime of the highest offense may soon be commited by the United States of America. Salvia may soon become illegal.

Why is this a crime in my view? Salvia has no reason to become illegal. Oh, oh, oh wait maybe it does. But what could it be?

Well what are the possible reasons for making a drug illegal?

1) It leads to harder drugs? Nope, no study has shown that about salvia

2) It's bad for your health? Like any smokable drug if you smoke enough it is bad for your lungs. However, salvia is not a drug done daily. Or even weekly, for damn near everyone. And more importantly, it's never doen in "joint" form. Only through a bong or pipe.

3) It's similar to other drugs chemically (a rule in the States)? Nope.

4) It has dangerous side affects? Not one study has suggested so.

5) It has dangerous psychological side affects? Nien.

So why would they want to make salvia illegal? And for those who don't know, what is salvia? Well salvia is a drug which causes an unbelievably intense 5-15 minute hallucinogenic trip. I once described my first trip on sciforums. Basically, salvia has the power to take you out of this reality and create a completely new one.

Ohhhhhhh, so that's why they want it to be illegal!! It opens your mind up to new realities, new ideas and new emotions!! Well, we certainly can't allow that, now can we?

Fuckin' bastards. Screw Iraq, I say we launch a protest on this.

Who cares? What's the use, in a country that bans pot but allows alcohol :bugeye:

They want to stamp out drugs that don't have any medicinial purposes and are trying to find ways of doing it.

Happens all the time

Simple. You can find pot on half the blocks in North America. Salvia is rare and damn hard to find. And would become impossible if it were illegal. There is no market to risk shipping it over illegaly.

Ya, I heard this stuff was less potent than mushrooms! You cant get much less potent than that, whats the friggin point?

You heard daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaamn ass wrong. The thing is salvia comes in potencies. The 10x potency is much, much, much more potent than any hallucinogen I've done. And according to a few friends, much more potent than acid.

I can honestly say that at least half the times I've done it have resulted in every aspect of my surroundings disappearing and a new surrounding appearing.

not true. can be smoked in a joint, (how is a joint different than a pipe?). furthermore it can be used like dip

also, the reason salvia may become illeagal may very well be that it is reffered to as a drug. I would call it an herb. The drug is call " salvinorum a"

it does not come in "potentcies", but rather is standardized to 10x the normal potency of Salvinorum A content in the salvia plant. in the more expensive potent forms its strengthened by isolating where as the cheaper potency upgrades are made by applying "dirty" extracts.

about a year ago i saw the stuff selling on the net for about $100 a gram for 99.5% purity (not exactly sure about this one) and $1000 per gram for 99.9% purity. This was specificly intended for lab research, qualifications required. Point being you're paying for purity, in the name of research.

as to my own experience, i would say Salvinorum A is extremly potent!!!! The percentage in the salvia plant is far less than canibinoids in high grade reefer.

obviously the statement of one who's never had potent mushrooms (beleive, they exist)

Does anyone know if it's illegal in Canada? I've heard all sorts of things about it... that it's only legal for native americans? Are there really drugs out there that are only for natives?

Damn, never had that happen in all the times that i tripped acid years ago. I've had friends tell me though that they tripped on a huge amount of acid and had it happen. So, what were some of the new surroundings that appeared? Can you describe them at all?

As far as i know, in the States, peyote is only legal for Native American consumption due to religious purposes.

Well, if its made illegal in America, its just a matter of time before it becomes illegal in Britain. I was going to get a plant too. :( only solution: get one before it becomes illegal.
Its smoked in a joint for meditation i believe, you get a less dose and is supposed to help people meditate. Because its so hard to get (the plants can only be grown from clones) it will become unbelievably expensive. America can make anything illgeal and usually the rest of the world follows the trend. Having alcohol illegal and banning all other sorts of drugs is just plain hypocritical, lets protest.

Damn, wish I had some:D

Ya, mushrooms dont effect me much. Could be just shitty shrooms, but they've never done much to me but make me feel all relaxed and happy. No hallucigens ever.

Just another case of a relatively harmless drug being illegalized, just because it's a drug. Other examples: mushrooms, peyote, marijuana of course, LSD.

I think government officials just don't want ANYONE to get high, or hallucinate for that matter. Damned politicians.

Captain_Crunch, if you ever do your trip to the Eastern Europe, please bring along one plant for me. I'll pay you its cost.

If you haven't already, check out The Vaults of Erowid... Maybe you people know about it and I'm a bit late, but it's a good site.

Why would it become illegal in Britain? Is Britain trying to keep their country stupid like America is doing? I don't really know, I don't keep up with these things.

Peyote and Salvia are used in sacred religious ceremonies by native americans, and under strict supervision of an experienced elder or Shaman.

It's sad how so many people have desecrated these 'Eyes of the World' and other hallucinogens and psychoactives, but maybe people are starting to wise up, and that's why the government wants to make Salvia illegal...to keep us people under control...

But, yeah, hey, I'm new... I really just wanted to throw out that link for you all... check it out.

Britain is Americas lapdog, they want to keep in Americas good books. I will be surprised if they dont outlaw it after america has.

Been using that link for awhile, it is a pretty good and informative site. Unbaised stuff too. Gives effects of drugs, health risks, how they're used, what they look like...check it out www.erowid.org

Anyway, i know nothing of politics really, but it DOES seem Britain is a little smarter in their policies when it comes to drugs. They moved pot down to Class C..it's still illegal, just less harsh penalties. Under class C also fall anabolic steroids i think.

Concerning drug laws, America IS, without a doubt, one of the most backward of all "free" countries. IMO, anyway. But any freedom loving person should see that for themselves. Oh sure, you can drink yourself to death legally...but just because pot's illegal means it's Devil's Weed? Alcohol=legal, therefore its not harmful? Pot's illegal, therefore it's harmful?

Don't get me wrong, i'm not anti-alcoholic. Just the way some people think, it amazes me. They'll tell you how wrong you are for using "bad and harmful and evil" illegal drugs, and then tell you that they drink. UNDERAGE. "Oh, but alcohol's not illegal" Well, it is at your age moron..
