He does not want libraries to screen us out.

@ Me-Ki - *shrug* Phrases they are and, while some of them are somewhat... disgusting... in my honest opinion they are just as acceptable as "boot up yer ass". Granted, some of them I don't care to know just WHAT they mean... but meh

I think we are way past the library , but then again back in the early 80s that one library let a pedophile organization hold there meeting there so go figure what Libraries allow .

Or maybe, in other threads, I might punish other people for making lame contributions. You know, like in A&C, when people were asked to go beyond simply listing a song or album title, and actually spend a few words explaining why they liked it? That sort of thing is asking too much of a good number of people.

I expect you to know what to get rid of and what to keep. I expect you to be a dictator. I expect you to be ruthless. I expect you to encourage creativity, intellect, and entertainment. I expect you to know what those things are.

I expect you to recognise what is inspiring without confining that only to your own viewpoint or experience.

I expect you to be a pioneer. To dispense with numbers, to dispense with those who have nothing to offer. I expect you to have vision, and the courage and strength to enforce it.

I expect a site which has, and has always had, the framework for something truly original and groundbreaking within its grasp.
I expect you to take your balls in your hand and remember you have them.

So you agree: the sole concern is obscenity, and the issue of insult is completely tangential to that. SciForums does not, in effect, have any policy against insults whatsoever. Insults which do not contain profanity can be reliably expected not to arouse any moderator attention, nor result in any sanctions or other administrative response, and JamesR's statement:

While it's not as bad as it used to be with the housewives chatting a thread up 6 pages in 2 minutes, its hard to keep track of who's saying what about where.

Some of the blandest opinions are contributed, in the most respectful, user-friendly, pat-on-the-back terminology, followed by a most intense "IMHO" as a qualifier.

At that point, you're left wondering: now what the fuck was his honest opinion again?

I was actually hoping we might be able to talk substantively about social issues...nope, didn't happen.
