Photons Do Not Have A Mass

He doesn't know WHAT he agrees with.

And of course temperature and energy are related - but a relationship is FAR from being an equivalency!!! That's what the little amateur "scientist" doesn't grasp.

I'm pretty sure that you don't know the actual physics textbook definition of "temperature" and that there is wiggle room on the definition. I am more concerned that your reactions were so immature.

HAR!! Yes, I do know the actual definition - and it's precise - there's NO "wiggle" room about it. Why don't you look it up for yourself and see? I know you won't take my word for it.

No actually.
Just my night with sciforums is filled with ... a bitter taste. More than likly I will end up throwing a fit and running to the bathroom :/
I've been having some deep and immense feelings lately of horrible mental stress and torment or something, it's very confusing and projects itself onto the screen.
I can't be certain of the validy of the words that I read--- I believe!--- and so it throws me into a spiral, and the endless rest of it, like my intellect shrinking and such; it is so weird.

I feel bad for most of the things I f'ing say to people here or how they will take it. I suppose you might say a huge eposide of depression, and would you believe it: it could be caused by something so horrible as this: "change is bad." (for me). Would you believe that. My very words and projection of self or what not are anti productive to change. Would you believe it. Not only that but I am mildy evil. The perception of the words that I have which is twisted is also probably caused by an 'action paralysis' which is very weird; it's like things which are the absolute reality which are still a part of myself are being defragmented and I am still trying to fucking hold on or something. It's confusing, I understand it, and still have some psychic stress, and the putting up with all of this shit is insurmountable or whatever.

I am also debiliated.

LOL

THERE

lol
DEFINATELY man.

It's pretty shitty :/

Know though, one and likly the only productive thing comming out of it is the fact that i now know all of what is happening or , i have come out of the hole that I was in in the past only to come back to something equally worse. That I can now at least, say what it is that I want to say.

Plus i'm living alone, so anyway.

Yeah, a shitty mental situtaion says it like peas and cherries or whatehver someone on here would ssay..

edit: Though I don't have a computer at my house.
LoL

Physics is sometimes called a "hard science". Why? Because in physics things tend to be either right or wrong. The "wiggle room" found in some other disciplines isn't there to the same extent.

The upshot of this is that physicists try to be precise when they use terms, so there is no ambiguity. There are several different definitions of "temperature", based on definable experimental procedures for measuring that quantity. However, they can be shown to be equivalent. There is one basic definition of "energy", which is completely different to any of the definitions of temperature.

Claiming that energy and temperature are the same thing is stupid. Just look at any equation containing both quantities. For example, for a system of particles of mass m:

$$<K> = \frac{1}{2} m<v^2> = \frac{3}{2} kT$$

Ignore the middle term if you wish. Note that the constant k (Boltzmann's constant) is not dimensionless. Therefore, the dimensions of kinetic energy K and temperature T cannot be the same.

It is a simple matter to draw the inevitable conclusion that energy and temperature are not the same thing.

You know, Read-Only, it makes a difference if the person who points it out has manners. When you're rude, your credibility takes a sharp drop, like yours did.

Because even if you might have a point, your manners are those of a spoiled child.

Umm, are you joking? This is what I said...

"Uhhh? What's your motive for backing up Reiku? Are you his brother or something? Seems awfully strange for you to say that when his presentation style is anything BUT concise and coherent."

You then "counter" with "Are you a cocksucker or something?"

...nice counter...your's seems to be much worse however AND not to mention the syle/tone of your counter makes you seem 10X more of a mannerless git than me.

Alex

Reiku,

I asked 3 atmospheric physicists and 1 chemist yesterday if they thought temperature and energy were the same thing. 4/4 said NO.

And that means that when you are rude, you are not stating a fact.

Wht the heck are you talking about??? The question was asked "who started the temp=energy" thing and I named the individual. That was OBVIOUSLY a fact because that's where it came from. So get off your high-horse. :bugeye:

It's called "responding in kind." You may think that you are my superior in some way. I don't. The way that you express the idea that you are my superior helps prove it, in fact.

??? "responding in kind"? What IS wrong with you? :bugeye:

And no, I'm not your superior in some way like you suggest.

Hello, Mercaptan. Just a word of explanation and caution here: you're dealing with an individual who is not fully rational. He sees what he wants to see even if it's not present. And he very often distorts what IS present - usually to an absurd degree.

So, don't be surprised by any response you get because you never know which side of his 'swings' he'll be on. For the most part, it's best to just completely ignore him.
