"Spore is your own personal universe.
You can create and evolve life, establish tribes, build civilisations, sculpt worlds, and explore the cosmos.
Spore is made up of five games, each corresponding to a stage of evolution: Cell, Creature, Tribe, Civilisation, and Space.
Each stage presents different challenges and goals."

I downloaded the Creature Creator demo, and it's pretty fun to do even though it's only a demo version (25% of the full possibilities).
The game itself looks very promising.
Check out the website (url above) and these videos on YouTube:
Cell Stage
Creature Stage
Tribal Stage

Here are a few creatures I made with the demo version:

I hear that when you post those images to the net as .bmps, like if I were to right click and download it to my hard drive, I could open them up in creature creator.

no way...... they got that sort of technology to recognize it from mbp into 3d figure? :bugeye:  wow...seriously

Something like that yes, I'm a bit confused about that myself.
I think it's only the ones on their site though. You will probably be downloading the entire creature instead of just a BMP.

Btw Enmos, you might want to try using:

ALT to Copy part or all of a limb or component (In fact you can add limbs together like this to create multijointed limbs)
and
CTRL to remove parts of limbs (It has to be between two joints and not the point that connects to the body)

(At least I think it was that way round, my be ALT instead of CTRL and CTRL instead of ALT)

Wow.. that's freaky :D
Thanks Stryder, I didn't know that yet :)

You got it right btw.. ALT to copy, CTRL to delete, and ALT (hold) then CTRL to add.

so you can only create creatures with this....? i thought that the real game was still supposed to get out. where you can do the evolution thing.

Yes, this is only the Creature Creator.
The game will be out begin September here.

Roman, I downloaded a few creatures and it appears to be right, only they are .PNG's. I suppose they have just stashed the creaturedata in the picturefile somewhere.

Only the last stage though right ?

Technically I think it's the Third stage (First stage is Protozoic soup, Second is Sealife, Third is when creatures get to walk onto land, Forth is Civilization mode, fifth is Interplanetary conquest)

Obviously if your creature is over complex then it won't have enough room for a decent sized brain and that might hurt it's overall evolution.

On a side note I'm toying with animated GIF's created by the program (upload them to the GIFworks.com online tool and you can edit the Animated GIF in both Size and number of colours to get it to fit to Sciforums limits)
