Quite. We should also not forget it is a Christian bishop who gave Trump and his acolytes this unwelcome advice, taken straight from the teaching of Christ in the New Testament. Not that I have any need to defend Christians, I just don't like generalizations.
This is certainly deplorable.
But we should be diligent to run this through the "squeaky wheel gets the oil" filter of mass media.
Every group falls on a Bell curve of behavior. In any group, the 99% of normal people do not make for good news. The news is in the 1% that go crazy.
It would folly to judge all Christians by the behaviour of their most extreme members, as much as it would be folly to judge, say, all redheads by their most extreme members.
This will disrupt threads. I find it difficult to believe you cannot find a way of posting in English.
You do you not even need to go to Google translate. If you hold down on the sentence and select like you were going to paste, the option of "translate" come in the menu bar and it takes you directly to a translate site and does it automatically.
I have a Russian YouTuber friend who switches between Russian and English depending on who is posting. It is not issue for her and I don't think she has some super high tech software (judging her site)Зачем мне Вас обманывать?
Got a friend in Moscow and it's no issue, her kit is pretty basic.Maybe access to translation services is not so easy in Russia... (?)
I have a Russian YouTuber friend who switches between Russian and English depending on who is posting. It is not issue for her and I don't think she has some super high tech software (judging her site)
She is ok to do that though, it is her site to manage.
Here it is English.
Ask a friend, ask Copilot, ask Google.
Ok I will check it out with her.
Exactly, it is the age of Elmer Gantry, the fast talking, hard drinking, charismatic grifters who have taken over the Bible Belt, preaching a whole lot of politics and not a whole lot of Jesus.Quite. We should also not forget it is a Christian bishop who gave Trump and his acolytes this unwelcome advice, taken straight from the teaching of Christ in the New Testament.
In the OP to this thread, as so often on these forums, I see a view of "Christianity" that seems exclusively informed by the US redneck Protestant Bible Belt version of the religion. This is highly unrepresentative of Christianity worldwide. The bishop is Episcopalian and as such within mainstream Christianity, which these Trumpy self-appointed Baptist ministers in the Bible Belt are not.
Not only that, but if folks from multiple languages started posting here in their language, are we to sit here translating everything for them? This will disrupt threads. I find it difficult to believe you cannot find a way of posting in English.
Ah yes, Elmer Gantry, an icon for our times!Exactly, it is the age of Elmer Gantry, the fast talking, hard drinking, charismatic grifters who have taken over the Bible Belt, preaching a whole lot of politics and not a whole lot of Jesus.
Yes. You can start a thread about judging another group?Hmmm, this thread is about judging Christians, right?
Not necessary.Yes. You can start a thread about judging another group?
Some Christian men do bad things too, some of them lobby parliament to squeeze laws in that the rest of us do not like.Christian men might treat women differently than others in society,
Nice to see a post here supporting Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI).Not necessary.
Christians are free to live their way of life same KKK members or Black Kives Matter group. No matter political, social or entertainment affiliations, what the rule in society is expected is no other but tolerance, no acceptance is mandatory.
Christian men might treat women differently than others in society, well, if their women are fine with that, then such is not a social issue, no need to intervene with that. A different scenario should be if Cristians pretend for everybody to do the same as they do with respect of treating women.
Same applies with other groups in society.
Diversity doesn't mean everybody to think and live the same, but on the contrary, everybody lives their way of live in harmony (tolerance) with the rest.
You see? You took it wrong; I said "tolerance" not support.Nice to see a post here supporting Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI).![]()
Hahaha I thought that would get you equivocating. You see? You took it wrong; I said "tolerance" not support.

Women too.
The way you act is up to you but when you try and force your so called Christian values on the society you live in, via changes in the law, that is not good.
You would probably judge a Muslim community for separating men and women, or prohibiting the sale of alcohol, or violence for the satirising of their religion, in your secular country right?
So would I, religion in my opinion should be kept away from the law, school and Education, the house of Lords (in the UK)
Luckily you have the first amendment, do you value that?
