The problem is that if you're banned I don't think you can read personal messages.
Strange though. I thought that the duration of a ban was shown if you tried to log into the forum while banned.
Hmm, I may not have ticked 'send pm' or whatever it reads. That never was a problem because people could access their warnings tab. Hasn't that been fixed yet?On most sites, and the old one here, when you get a warning or ban you get a PM and an e-mail, at least I always did (and I'm quite experienced in the ban area, if I do say so myself!). I would also see a message on other forums, and the old one here, when trying to log on, showing duration of ban. But this time I got no e-mail, no PM, and no message. I couldn't access PM's, but there wasn't one sent anyway.
Then sorry, this is a very unsatisfactory state of affairs for (we) heavy users of LaTex. Why should it be up to users to choose/tweak their browsers? Many of us have little knowledge or interest in computer science, and expect everything to work "straight out of the box"Rendering falls upon your browser.
But quite clearly it isn't - JamesR commented on this and so did IIt should be available across the whole site by default due to how it's been integrated.
Can we have links underlined or in a different colour or something?
Currently, I have to mouse over anything that looks like it might be a link to see if it is.
For example: The default behaviour: Link to Sciforums home page
Better?: Link to Sciforums home page
Is it possible to set up a hidden subforum for banned members?
tell me, how is anybody going to read a PM when banned?I'm sorry for that. Next time I ban someone I'll make sure to leave them a message (until this matter is resolved of course). Thanks for the feedback.
How about in-thread....tell me, how is anybody going to read a PM when banned?
that, or sending a message to their email address. How about in-thread....
I'm not suggesting you tweak your browser. It's merely a point that some browsers are faster and more compatible. Consider that LaTex is used a lot by the scientific community as a whole and certain browsers are open enough to allow development in regards to various prototypes towards an industry standards for native implementation. Internet Explorer doesn't necessarily follow that trend. What you have is a bunch of developers (MathJax) attempting to get Internet Explorer to behave like the other browsers at the same speed. Unfortunately that isn't always the case. (It would probably work better if there was less Javascript on the page and just the MathJax)Then sorry, this is a very unsatisfactory state of affairs for (we) heavy users of LaTex. Unfortunately MathJax was the only available solution to work with this software that doesn't require a dedicated server to commit to server-side rendering. Such solutions would cost money. Many of us have little knowledge or interest in computer science, and expect everything to work "straight out of the box"

I know. It's annoying. But if you just mouse-over the alert link it will give you a drop-down list with all of your unread alerts.the alerts page needs revamped.
i have 5 alerts, and each one is on a different page.
they could be all listed on one page.
Hi.
As you've probably noticed SciForums had a major update. I apologize we didn't left any notice, but we had to think and act fast.
SciForums isn't on vBulletin software anymore. The reason for this change was vB software vulnerability, lack of support.
We've been playground for hackers lately thanks to this vulnerability. Also, your security and your private info have been compromised, so we had to find a new solution as soon as possible.
We've chosen XenForo software, which is basically developed by the team that was behind old, stable versions of vBulletin. They've kept the similar look and features.
Some things are not working due to fact that we still didn't set all permissions and settings.
Your help would be appreciated, so you can use this thread to report all bugs and things that don't work properly, so we can fix them promptly.
Thank you for your patience and sorry for all inconvenince.
