Hi.

As you've probably noticed SciForums had a major update. I apologize we didn't left any notice, but we had to think and act fast.

SciForums isn't on vBulletin software anymore. The reason for this change was vB software vulnerability, lack of support.
We've been playground for hackers lately thanks to this vulnerability. Also, your security and your private info have been compromised, so we had to find a new solution as soon as possible.

We've chosen XenForo software, which is basically developed by the team that was behind old, stable versions of vBulletin. They've kept the similar look and features.

Some things are not working due to fact that we still didn't set all permissions and settings.

Your help would be appreciated, so you can use this thread to report all bugs and things that don't work properly, so we can fix them promptly.

Thank you for your patience and sorry for all inconvenince.

Yay, I can post and read threads now.

Just another heads up, Kitta had the exact same issues I was having.

Thanks for reindexing the posts -- It's still only up to about 2011 but I assume it is working...

Edit button is gone by design or bug.

Some tags aren't working.

  • $$x^2$$ = x²
  • [thread=142665]This Thread[/thread] = This Thread
  • [post=3228069]Post #2[/post] = post #2
(I figured out the equivalents for the last two)

Possibly related: I no longer see my attachments. Upload a file doesn't work for reasons unknown.

My name in the upper left corner gives a popup box of choices but actually clicking on it gives me this page: http://www.sciforums.com/index.php?account/ with message: "You do not have permission to view this page or perform this action."

My only infraction was one given to me in error and rescinded, but I don't see where that might be visible.

Visibility of the moderators -- who they are and the ban list -- are gone. Members -> Staff Members only lists Porfiry

I think they are trying to fix everything at the moment. It was a big move and a lot of things needs tweaking.

And no problem Plazma!

Hi rpenner.

Thank you for your feedback. Add-ons for vBulletin don't work with xenForo, but they have their own. We found LaTex (among other BBCode) and it will be installed soon.
Apparently, banlist is also add-on so we have to install it.

You should be able to see edit button but only for limited time (5 minutes).

Can you see the attachments now? Usergroup permissions have been changed.

Anyway, we move in small steps, trying to catch all things and hopefully install as much old features as possible.

"The server responded with an error. The error message is in the JavaScript console."

And I keep getting logged out.

Edit button still missing and the Permalink feature of the #8 post number seems to have stopped working right and now causes a popup with "The server responded with an error. The error message is in the JavaScript console."

Not sure if this is a bug or just a quirk of the new software... I read a thread and logged in when requested so as to be able to reply, but then when I returned to the main sciforum page I had been logged out and needed to log back in.

A work around for the javascript console error is possible with browsers that allow extra tabs. Just right click whatever it was that triggered the error and select opening in a separate tab.

Nothing works for me. I get this eveytime I try do do pretty much anything:

The following error occurred

The server responded with an error. The error message is in the JavaScript console.

I cant log out. Only one window open and I keep clicking the are you sure? log out but I am still logged on.

For the edit key error - right click it and choose "open in new window" - it seems to be a script error.

Enmos - same for changing your avatar :)
