Kitta: Actually there ARE different types of firearm licenses. For example, one (a US citizen) cannot own an AUTOMATIC weapon without special registration/licensure/certification from the US Government (ATF). BTW: I know of several persons (mostly collectors) who have such licensure (I don't) and they enjoy participating in (legal) shooting events that include automatic AR-15, AK-47, 50 cal. machine guns, and 20 mm cannons . . . to name a few. As you should be aware, semi-automatic (one shot per trigger pull) weapons are NOT automatic (multiple shots per trigger pull) weapons. [However, it is a fairly simple procedure to modify semi-automatics to be automatics - if one is so inclined - but it is ILLEGAL! There are also other weapon modifications that are ILLEGAL!].
As for the rest of your post, that is only your (and perhaps others') opinion.
Indeed, I am aware, you need a Type 1 Federal Firearms License to own a fully automatic weapon. A handful of states prohibit them outright.
That said - the point still stands that a pistol vs a shotgun vs a rifle are three very different weapons. I guess one could say, Karen, that it is your opinion that they are not (though factually speaking, they are different weapon systems with different uses and purposes).
The fact that you are attempting to be a pedant about it just shows your lack of character and your unhealthy fixation with me - how charming.
As you wish...Yeah because I retracted nothing.
So what do you suggest be done about that problem (ergo, that Republicans have shoved their head so far up the NRA's asshole as to not be able to see the issue at hand)I don't see anything in here I disagree with, there is only the problem of implementation as republicans will hear nothing of it.
Poverty, a culture that glorifies thuggery because they have nothing else to look forward to? That can only be helped through massive investment in social programs and education, another thing republicans will hear nothing of.
Social programs alone won't solve the issue - even now, as it stands, there are facilities and programs out there to help people try and get out of poverty. No, they aren't perfect, and they are severely underfunded and overworked, but they exist... yet there are plenty of folks who dismiss them in favor of "alternatives".
Some are legitimately so desperate that they take the first "out" they find. Others... I don't know what prompts a person to think violent crime leads to any sort of decent future, but I can only believe something is wrong there. The culture you speak of... what do you mean? Perhaps I'm reading too far into it, but the way you put it...
