Donald Trump is Not Well

Kitta: Actually there ARE different types of firearm licenses. For example, one (a US citizen) cannot own an AUTOMATIC weapon without special registration/licensure/certification from the US Government (ATF). BTW: I know of several persons (mostly collectors) who have such licensure (I don't) and they enjoy participating in (legal) shooting events that include automatic AR-15, AK-47, 50 cal. machine guns, and 20 mm cannons . . . to name a few. As you should be aware, semi-automatic (one shot per trigger pull) weapons are NOT automatic (multiple shots per trigger pull) weapons. [However, it is a fairly simple procedure to modify semi-automatics to be automatics - if one is so inclined - but it is ILLEGAL! There are also other weapon modifications that are ILLEGAL!].

As for the rest of your post, that is only your (and perhaps others') opinion.

Indeed, I am aware, you need a Type 1 Federal Firearms License to own a fully automatic weapon. A handful of states prohibit them outright.

That said - the point still stands that a pistol vs a shotgun vs a rifle are three very different weapons. I guess one could say, Karen, that it is your opinion that they are not (though factually speaking, they are different weapon systems with different uses and purposes).

The fact that you are attempting to be a pedant about it just shows your lack of character and your unhealthy fixation with me - how charming.

Yeah because I retracted nothing.
As you wish...

I don't see anything in here I disagree with, there is only the problem of implementation as republicans will hear nothing of it.
So what do you suggest be done about that problem (ergo, that Republicans have shoved their head so far up the NRA's asshole as to not be able to see the issue at hand)

Poverty, a culture that glorifies thuggery because they have nothing else to look forward to? That can only be helped through massive investment in social programs and education, another thing republicans will hear nothing of.

Social programs alone won't solve the issue - even now, as it stands, there are facilities and programs out there to help people try and get out of poverty. No, they aren't perfect, and they are severely underfunded and overworked, but they exist... yet there are plenty of folks who dismiss them in favor of "alternatives".

Some are legitimately so desperate that they take the first "out" they find. Others... I don't know what prompts a person to think violent crime leads to any sort of decent future, but I can only believe something is wrong there. The culture you speak of... what do you mean? Perhaps I'm reading too far into it, but the way you put it...

Kitta: You failed to notice that I pointed-out the difference among semi-auto and auto weapons. They (weapons) - be they shotguns, pistols, revolvers, rifles, etc. - and even knives, clubs, ballpoint pens, or rocks, etc. - can be used as weapons to dissuade aggressors . . . it is not the weapon of choice, but rather the user and his intent, that is responsible for its misuse.

BTW: Thank you for the compliment (pedant) - that too is your opinion. Stop trolling, please!

Once again, you fail at basic reading comprehension (or you are trolling, take your pick) - I'm talking about more than just the difference between semi-auto and automatic weapons. You also fail to comprehend the purpose. You wouldn't expect someone with a standard drivers license to be able to climb into a 6 trailer long land train and take off, would you?

*shrug* Then again, you are only here to troll... it does explain a lot about your supposed lack of comprehension.

Tell me this, Karen - what do you think needs to be done about the rampant violence, and do you think the muslim travel ban will actually prevent violence (and if so, how)?

Certainly if you wish to take pedant as a compliment, then you have the attention to detail necessary to lay out an excellent plan, hmm?

Kitta: I note that you are posting greatly off-topic ("Donald Trump is not well"). Your questions to me are simply trolling and baiting for argument. If you truly want members to reasonably discuss these questions, then I suggest you start an appropriate thread. You are a Sciforums moderator - surely you must know better!

Karen, your game is old, tired, and unappreciated. You initiated the tangent by attempting to feign a lack of understanding/comprehension, then attempt to deflect responsibility for said tangent. Sorry, but that's not going to pass muster.

With that dealt with, lets say we get back on track.

It seems, EF, that we agree on possible solutions, and both recognize that the issue at hand is that our Republican government refuses to even acknowledge the problem, much less attempt a solution. Is that a fair assessment thus far?

So what do you suggest be done about that problem (ergo, that Republicans have shoved their head so far up the NRA's asshole as to not be able to see the issue at hand)

1. Get back the government
2. Make changes to the the law to enfranchise voters, make election day a national holiday, have Washington DC votes distributed to Virgina and Maryland or grant Washington DC as a state, also finally approve of puerto rico statehood, end the electoral college or at least get the a majority of state on the popular vote compact, fight gerrymandering for once, etc, etc, increase democrat voting access.
3. Push progressive economic reform, taxing the rich, infrastructure bills, minimum wage to $15, anything and everything to bring up the income of the middle class and reduce their finance burden. This will insure their vote.
4. Now with our power solidly locked in we can start dealing NRA.

Social programs alone won't solve the issue - even now, as it stands, there are facilities and programs out there to help people try and get out of poverty. No shit they won't solve the issue alone, but what we presently have for social programs is pathetic.

Imagine your a young black boy in say Chicago slums, the only people you see around you (physically aka in real life) that have money and power are pimps and gangster, at best on TV you see prospects of becoming a raper, or a basketball player, rich successful blacks of more attainable realistic careers are scares and not mentoring you, what you do have mentoring you is your older brother (not your father he is in jail) who is in a gang and has no job, is a high school drop out, and yet makes money selling drugs and has beautiful lustful women attracted to him because he popped a cap in Tyrons ass and got away from the g. Growing up in all that you will see violent crime as leading to a decent future.

Now before you scream racist or "not all!" first off I never said this was genetic. If say you take a young black boy, show him the world, get him out of downtown Chicago, raise him to see hard work and education as a not only a viable but only means to success, then he could go far, who knows perhaps become president of the untied state... oh wait that already happened, but it could happen again if we provide greater education funding, more social program funding, more policing, legalize drugs (thus striping gangs of their money, or better yet turning gangsters into legitimate business men who can now solve their problems via law suites and police instead of via thuggery and racketeering), a basic income, child care for single mothers, free contraceptives and abortions, etc. all that can only come at the utter defeat of republicans.

It seems, EF, that we agree on possible solutions, and both recognize that the issue at hand is that our Republican government refuses to even acknowledge the problem, much less attempt a solution. Is that a fair assessment thus far?

Just because I blame Tiassa and other Hillary primary voters for setting us up for failure does not mean we can't agree sometimes.

The problem is, Democrats will stumble at the starting block if they decide to shove a non-starter candidate down our throats again. Given that some of Hillary's team are STILL trying to blame everyone but themselves... :(

Aye, that they are. The fact that we have cities putting up "homeless spikes" to discourage folks sleeping in sheltered areas... I mean, holy shit.

Indeed, and I see it a lot. My mother works in the city school system as a music teacher - she has helped some very bright kids realize their own intelligence and begin to make something of themselves. Often, it just takes someone willing to reach out and help them realize they are noticed, and that they do matter. Of course, having the same chances as everyone else would go a long way as well!

Just because I blame Tiassa and other Hillary primary voters for setting us up for failure does not mean we can't agree sometimes.

I hope the DNC learns from its mistakes... but their recent actions make me fear that they won't.

Yeah I have seen those things... evil.
