Do I need to dock/clip the tail of my Rottweiler puppy

It's a violation of your dog. And I do not respect you, nor your decisions. You make me sick.

You are subjective,
do you think you know what does dog think and feel?
Dog can easily appeased by giving it good food.

"Mutilation" is completely out of topic here.

Nobody is torturing dogs here.
We are dog lovers, we do what is appropriate to dogs, though we have differences, you must learn how to tolerate differences.

Saint, just stop with this. Public opinion is that this is a pointless and cruel process. It's unnecessary, and serves your vanity at the cost of your dog's welfare. Do not do it.

This isn't about a difference of opinion, or tolerating differences, it's about you mutilating your dog.

And yes, I can tell a lot about how my dogs feel, from how they carry their tails. That's what I keep telling you, but that stoner Joey can't see it in his dogs. That just makes him a crappy owner. Do not become a crappy owner, try to be the best owner your dog can have, and that includes no unnecessary surgery.

I'm guessing Saint has already done it anyway, prior to the creation of this thread.

Yeah, he'd already screwed the prostitute before he started that thread.

What a piece of work that guy is. I think I might have to add him to my ignore list, because he makes me angry, and I'm likely to call him an abhorrent fuck or something, if I keep reading his BS.

I did not dock my Rottweiler.
Anyway, I am sorry to tell you that my uncle had docked the dog before giving it to me.
I do not know much about rottweiler at the time I received this dog, I was actually surprised to see its tail docked.
Therefore, I started this thread to ask people some questions.
I watched many video clips in Youtube and saw many Rottweilers were docked as well. This made me think it is ok to clip its tail.

Please do not blame me. It is my uncle who did the docking.
I swear I tell the truth.

My Rottweiler is 9 weeks old. His appetite is very big. He can eat as much as possible as long as I continue to feed him.
You know, I do not have much time to take him out strolling for him to find places to shit and piss (for dog, what words do we use for shit and piss?), so sometimes he shit and piss inside the metal cage.
During weekday, I go out to work at 6:30am, come back at 5pm,
can you suggest to me what time shall I feed him so that he can wait for me to take him out for shit (pissing is unavoidable, he can't hold it for too long)?

I am thinking of feeding him a lot of food at 6pm, and take him out to shit at 12am midnight before I go to bed. This means I only feed him once per day.
Is this ok for a puppy?

Excuse me? Please find a good owner for your dog.

Well, tbh...can you get someone to take care of him when you are not there? Puppies are like children and usually need someone to watch them.

don't believe all this hype, they are being far too unrealistic and angelic. i find it hard to believe they all treat their pets as well as they claim as if they are pampered royalty. it's typical for dog owners to torture their animals by training them to hold in their urine/feces. this is not considered torture or unhealthy when it actually is.

you should designate a place in your house for your dog to piss/crap somewhere like a cat litter box lined with newspaper or actual litter until you get home since you are gone all day or else you will have to strictly time feeding/drinking/walking schedule which means you can't leave out food or drink all day for your pet to consume at whim.

also a lot of the questions you ask are on the internet or in any dog or puppy care book you can pick up at a pet store and even particular to breed. you can even ask your veterinarian questions or as for the feeding, the directions on the back of puppy food usually tell you how much puppies need to consume and how often. i think you need to rely more on yourself, you don't seem to have much self-confidence.

i do agree that the tail shouldn't be docked and that a large and very active breed like a rottweiller isn't best suited for a small living space without a yard or without anyone there all day, every day except the weekend. as much as you want that type of dog, you should consider whether or not it's a good fit, not just what other people might do. also, pets take a lot of work and care to properly take care of them humanely which most people don't. one of the major ones is a continual flea problem. this is why i'm not that big on people owning pets anyways except for small critters. the small dog you have is best suited for your lifestyle right now and you can even avoid a flea infestation by house-training it to go potty in a cat litter box lining it with newspaper changed a couple times a day.

i think you expect answers for a lot of trivial questions that can easily be figured out on your own using common sense or like i said, a book on taking care of dogs or asking google. you can even search based on your own particular circumstances.

You don't take in a 9 week old pup and then "go out to work at 6:30am, come back at 5pm". It is barbaric!
Not to mention that it apparently has no food or water during this period, and has to sit in it's own piss and shit.
If I knew someone here that did that, I would report them to the authorities.

i don't think i was particularly addressing that or saying that was right. i also think saint is trying to get a rise out of people by posting what he knows is going to upset others.

as for the time schedule, i think you are unrealistic. many families have two working parents and children in school where their pets or even puppy is at home alone throughout the day. it's a matter of making sure they have toys, food/water and perhaps something like the television on. in some cases, they have two pets so they entertain eachother or are not lonely. i think that is what he has.

this is why i told him to not believe the hype and i think i am correct about that.

I am unrealistic? What about the families that take in (young) animals while they don't have the time on their hands to properly care for them?
Young animals such as pups need attention and training.
If you don't have the time to care for an animal, don't have an animal.

unfortunately that is the problem. it's a very pet oriented culture which sees pets as entertainment for themselves or their kids. this is what he is going by and how so many households have pets. you can buy them, adopt them, and give them away or drop them off at the pound when you tire of them or they no longer suit your needs or wants.

i don't think anyone should take in a pet unless they have everything suited for that pet. i don't think saint should have a puppy since he doesn't have time for it and i certainly don't think it should be in a metal cage all day either though he probably thinks it's okay since they sell cages for pets.

the positive is that he has two dogs to keep eachother company but the rottweiler is not going to remain small for long. but other than that, i don't see his situation that out of the ordinary as a pet owner. as for your idea of keeping a puppy company, many parents go to work and drop their babies or young children at such a tender age off at daycare every day with strangers, i think that is extremely inhumane and impersonal but that is the culture.

Under the cage got a plate and I put newspapers on it to collect its urine and stool.
There is no torture of animal here. :bawl::bawl:

No. You don't need to do it. In some places it's actually illegal to do it.

Dogs have a tail for a reason. It's not a horrible growth that needs cutting off.

I guess it is the same with balls. Nevertheless....

Certain dogs are better off with short tails. Some of the digger types that go into foxholes are more practical with a short tail.

We have a wheaten with very short tail and it is cute like hell. He doesn't have balls either, although I am sure he misses them...

Edit: I asked him what he would like to have back, he said: Fuck the tail, I want my balls back!!!

All my dogs are rescues, and hell yes, I treat them as well as I say do. I just cooked them some liver for their dinner, and when my other half gets back from the gym, they'l get their 2nd walk of the day, yesterday they got three walks. The get at least two every day, lasting 40 minutes.

I also work from home, so they can go out whenever they please (they're quite smart and come to my office to let me know).

But tell you what, why don't you just carry on condoning Saint's piss poor standards? Ignore all of us experienced pet owners, and us telling him he's not doing enough, and continue enabling his poor behaviour. 'Cos you know, that animal sitting in a metal cage with it's own faeces is just fine like that, isn't it?

You are just as sick as Saint is. I think my ignore list needs updating.
