Just curious, does anyone else have this problem?
In post #518, I wrote this:
It's really hard to recognize a lot of these things as people. I know I'm not supposed to say shit like that, but, seriously, "you people"? Is there anything that I have ever posted here that would lead a person--a person--to conclude that I'm a Democrat? Again, AI surpassed these things ages ago in all relevant regards--here, the critical aspect being reading comprehension.
as a response to a post made by Trek. I
quoted Trek, so it's likely it crossed Trek's path. (In fact, Trek
responded to this post, so presumably Trek
read it?)
A few posts subsequent (#522), I wrote this in response to what one might conclude was either trolling or idiocy or ???
Like I said, it's hard to see some of these things as people. It's something I "struggle" with, honestly, because more often than not, the person--the person--simply is not very bright. Were I a more generous sort, that would be the appropriate conclusion to draw from this guy struggling to comprehend the nature of "evidence".
And this is the response I get from Trek:
Wtf are you talking about?
To be clear, I'm 97 percent certain that I am addressing another person here and not a bot. But there's always
some doubt. Problems of this nature have obviously intensified over the past few years. AI has gotten "cleverer". But, in all honesty, I've been somewhat "confused" about these sorts of matters for most of my life--even back when AI was a crap iteration of Eliza and I could program comparable shit on a Commodore 64. And I'm a pretty crap programmer (these days I mostly write fairly basic embedded stuff in Python, C, whatever for pics and avrs--and I'm partial to rather primitive-looking web stuff).
Just something about people who are mostly and reliably incoherent. It's almost like encountering randomness or pseudo-randomness and being expected to discern patterns, which in
most instances might suggest that
pseudo- aspect--but even were
that the case, that would still suggest some kind of pure Skinnerian monstrosity or something, and not... life, as it were.
I'm not talking literally here, just something near--underway towards, maybe? But it's become more prevalent--not the bots, the
people--in a world where people who rely solely upon GPS think they're actually
navigating in some way, and not simply following orders ("directions").
