Congratulations America - you got the president you deserve

Well, Trump and Musk seem to have scuppered the latest bi-partisan efforts at staving off an Xmas shutdown. Of course they'll blame the Democrats: "it happened on your watch!!!" and maybe the MAGA loyalists will buy that, but it's clearly disappointing for all those that will be affected.

Now, if only the US wasn't so divided...

And since the bi-partisan bill was scuopered, at the behest of "President Musk", as some have nick-named, a Trump-approved more streamlined Bill (that removed some of the things the Democrats wanted in order to support it, and included a 2-year suspension of the debt-ceiling) FAILED to get through the House, unsurprisingly.
Some Republicans voted against it as they want to see the debt drop, not go up, and the Democrats voted against it as a removal of the debt-ceiling will pave the way for Trump to give massive tax cuts to the already wealthy.
So the blame-game begins.

Trump and Vance continued to spout aggressive rhetoric by saying failure to approve their streamlined Bill would be "a betrayal of our country",
Musk denounced the bi-partisan bill as "criminal", while speaker Johnson said of the Democrats' failure to support the streamlined Bill that it was "irresponsible for us to risk a shutdown over these issues on things that they have already agreed upon."
But as top Democrat Hakeem Jeffries posted on X: "You break the bipartisan agreement, you own the consequences that follow"

So a good start to the Trump/Vance/Musk regime, when you tank any effort at cooperation and even your own party doesn't fully support what you then try to push through.

Make sure you have popcorn on standby for the next four years!!

If you want omelets, you have to break a few eggs. If you want change, you can't keep doing the same thing over and over even if it is considered "disruptive".

With Trump (and Musk) popcorn is always recommended.

It's nothing to do with what he's ultimately looking to achieve but rather the way he is going about it here and now. He doesn't comprehend the need for compromise. He wants to be a dictator, where everything he demands is simply enacted, no checks and balances.

Breaking eggs for an omelette sounds fine, but tipping over what other people had agreed to make, then throwing eggs at the walls and on the floor, is probably not the best way to go about it. And then getting the kitchen closed down if people don't agree to let you do that?

The EU economy is roughly the same as the US isn't it? I follow the EU a little but I can't tell you about the personality of any EU or UK leader. Why the interest in the US to that degree? The answer would be, I guess, is that what happens in the US matters to what happens in the EU.

Why not take more control of "your" self destiny? Learn not to need the US in NATO and for all the other reasons. What am I missing? The economy of Russia is about like that of Texas. Surely the EU can handle Russia?

I doubt Trump and Musk will be breaking eggs, they'll most likely be letting foxes run amok in the hen house.

#neoNazis | #WhatTheyVotedFor

Yesterday, some were joking about "President Musk"; today, "President Musk" has affirmed himself as a Nazi sympathizer.

Thing is, nobody's really surprised. Supporters already knew Donald Trump was a Nazi sympathizer. This is what they voted for.

Good job on the inflammatory front but in point of fact Musk thinks that immigration policies are a problem in Germany.

Endorsing the German neo-Nazi party as the only party that can save Germany is an endorsement of Nazis in Germany.

If the fact itself is inflammatory, that's on Elon Musk.

Yet, the immigration issue is what he is addressing. The rest is your narrative.

So you support Trump's request for NO debt ceiling, and no limits on government spending?
I have always supported no debt ceiling because it has never done anything other than to cause drama. If there is no debt limit then there is no limit on government spending by law. That's just semantics.

The limit on government spending is Congress. Congress has never limited their spending based on a debt ceiling. Why do you seem to think otherwise?

What I want is less government spending. How about you? Why are you suddenly concerned with a debt ceiling?

?? Every debt limit increase is a huge stinking big deal, with compromises worked out to reduce government spending before the debt limit is approved. We are seeing the stink right now play out in Congress.

You want those reductions to end, and the government not have to negotiate to get more money?

Let's say Trump gets what he wants, and the debt ceiling is removed (or removed for four years, which is what he asked for.) So no more hitting the limit, and no more wrangling over what to cut before more debt is approved. Do you think spending will go up or down?

Or ask yourself the same thing a different way. Let's say you give Joe Average a credit card with no firm requirement to repay it. You have two options:

1) Every time he hits a credit limit, his card is declined, and he has to call the bank to wrangle with them over getting a higher credit limit. And before they approve the new credit limit, Joe has to agree to cut his spending on hookers and blow, and shop at cheaper stores, and get a higher paying job, and several other requirements intended to decrease his spending and increase his ability to repay the loan.

2) There is no credit limit ever and the bill will not come due until after he dies.

Under which of those conditions do you think Joe will spend more?

Define Nazis. No, I'm not for antisemitism or Aryan supremacy. Is Musk?

Is this difficult? Musk said that only the neo-Nazi party can save Germany. Do his feelings, or yours, or anyone else's, at that, justify electing a Nazi government?

I don't know. So far you are just name calling. What is a "neo-Nazi party" specifically? This doesn't need to be difficult.
