Why are things in space the shape that they are?

Sorry that should have read ; forget "human physics" and "human mathematics", and substitute "universal physics" and "universal mathematics".

My error for not being clear enough in drawing the distinction.

Universal Physics is a given

Universal mathematics only mimics Universal Physics

Universal mathematics does not seem to be Universal when I am making my physical cheese sandwich and physical cup of coffee

Damn I was going to stop being a race official running backwards giving explanations :? What just happened :?

:)

I disagree. Universal physics are based on universal mathematics (the guiding equations).

Do you realize how many universal mathematical values make up your cheese sandwich and cup of coffee?

LOL, it is one of the things I truly like about you. You make me think and do research. It's all good!

Arrrrrh passing it is

Close it was

Don't think this post means I agree with you about a mathematical Universe

I came across this and thought you might enjoy

Zipf's law is an empirical law, formulated using mathematical statistics, named after the linguistGeorge Kingsley Zipf, who first proposed it.[1][2]

Enjoy. Give your brain a rest from Microtubules :)

It is not known why Zipf's law holds for most languages.

Yes this is also called LNRE , and used a lot by the NSA, for determining authorship.

Large number of rare events
In statistics, large number of rare events (LNRE) modeling summarizes methods that allow improvements in frequency distribution estimation over the maximum likelihood estimation when "rare events are common".[1]
It can be applied to problems in linguistics (see Zipf distribution), in various natural phenomena, in chemistry, in demography and in bibliography, amongst others.[2]

Robert Hazen uses it in estimating mineral distribution.
This enabled him to estimate that the earth has performed some (2 trillion, quadrillion, quadrillion, quadrillion) mineral experiments since it's birth.

You know that both Moon and Mars are "going down the tubes".

On Earth we say that, but we really never go down the tubes. No tubes!
We don't have tube one, we are essentially tubeless.....:(

Is the Fibonacci Sequence a naturally emerging mathematical phenomenon?

The “Golden” (phi) ratio in the Fibonacci spiral
http://aetherforce.com/fibonacci/
The Fibonacci Spiral, which is my key aesthetic focus of this project, is a simple logarithmic spiral based upon Fibonacci numbers, and the golden ratio, Φ. Because this spiral is logarithmic, the curve appears the same at every scale, and can thus be considered fractal. As we have seen, numbers in the Fibonacci sequence have several ways of appearing in natural examples.
The Fibonacci spiral, however, is a particularly fascinating application because of its mathematical perfection, aesthetic appeal, and biological importance.
The Fibonacci sequence is fundamental to life on Earth, but goes much beyond our own world; the spiral that exists in the center of sunflowers, heads of cabbage, and chambered nautilus shells, is the same spiral that shapes spiral galaxies. The exact phi ratio that appears in the structure of the human body and in developing hurricanes, is the same ratio that occurs between the planetary orbits of Earth and Venus[1][13][16].

From all of these examples, it is not difficult to see that the Fibonacci sequence is EVERYWHERE. Its omnipresence in the universe is fascinating and extremely powerful: through a simple sequence of numbers and a related ratio, we share an inherent connection with all living beings, and the entirety of the universe.
This is not only intriguing on a biological level, but also in a an intellectual and spiritual sense. We all seek answers about the universe and our place within it; the Fibonacci spiral has the power to both illustrate our relationship to others, and to give us a unique perspective about our place within the universe.
