This thread's pretty much died. Anyone still watching the show? The mid season finale was pretty good. I'll admit to being surprised when the little girl came walking out of the barn, although in retrospect it makes perfect sense.

My Dad told predicted that would happen, and at first I didn't believe it, but then after thinking about it, I agreed because it does make sense, and sure enough it happened.

Mid season finales suck. On one side, it makes the season finale / premiere break less, but on the other side, I'm sure it loses viewers. Think about the people that don't watch TV or AMC too often, but they saw that finale and the big revelation and would keep watching it next week and the week after etc. But he forgets about it, since it didn't come on the week after. :shrug:

Anyway, this season is looking to be good, but I was disappointed in the ending last week. I expected another cliffhanger like last episode. Its good that they are finally meeting the hostile outside world. No doubt they will meet with those guys again, or those guys will find them at the barn which will force them to leave. Maybe Randall will get away.

The pregnancy thing is going to be werid. How will the writers handle that? My only guess is that they will fast forward a few months in season 3's premiere. I cant see how there can be much action with a pregnant woman in the group. Maybe she will stay somewhere while the group moves on their own.

Next episode looks better, though.

Season End Episode

Pretty good I thought, You can see the change in the characters dealing with this apocolyptic situation. Also the glimpses into season three with (for those who have read the comic ) the apearance of Mischonne very creepy and the shot of the jail liked the show good season end.

Good season finale.

I must say that Rick's wife is quite a bitch. First she tells Rick he's got to do something about Shane, then she tells Shane how much she cares for him. When the inevitable confrontation (caused largely by her) comes and Rick kills Shane in self defense, his wife is pissed off about it!

Also, I don't see why they don't return to the farm. It's not like the farm has been taken over by some enemy army, it's more like a herd of buffalo came thru and tore up the place. The herd will move on and they could rebuild. Sure, they might have to take out a few stragglers, but considering that the alternative is being on the road and venturing into completely unknown territory, I say wait a week or so and then re-take the farm.

I also wonder why they haven't gotten ahold of some more radios. Rick had one, didnt Shane have one too? Have the batteries simply died? I also remember them having another radio in the early episodes. Regardless, why not hit the local Walmart and pick up some Walkie talkies and batteries. They would be invaluable in searches and regrouping after an attack or in simply coordinating various activities.

As for the farm, with the creek drying up (and the mud trap disappearing) it's not as secure as it was. Plus you have to imagine with the horde moving through that their cows, horses and chicken are all dead now.

Plus, some things on that show make no sense...like Shane and Risck walking for hours looking for Randall...until Shane leads Rick into a clearing where Shane plans to shoot him. That clearing? Within direct line of sight to the house, where the shot will be heard if not seen and Rick's body easily found unless moved.

I guess they circled back. But why would Shane wait until they were nearly back and not shoot him deeper in the woods? Plus with the hordes of slow moving zombies that were apparently in those woods, they encountered none of them? Not even one? Yet a single gunshot brings at least a hundred in just a couple of minutes?

I like the show, but best not to think too deeply. The willing suspension of disbelief is a key ally in enjoying it.

Valid points, but there's still the house and their knowledge of the area which gives them an advantage they lose once they hit the road. Not to mention the fact that being on a farm gives them the capacity to be self sufficient in terms of food.

Clearly they had been relying on the farms relatively remote location too much as their primary defense. They need to hit the local police stations and maybe the national guard armory to come up with some heavier weaponry. Perhaps a mine field and some machine guns? Flame throwers? How about creating some sort of suit that would protect you from zombie bites? Kevlar or even chain mail would probably do the trick. Hell, even leather would be better than nothing.

Plus, some things on that show make no sense...like Shane and Risck walking for hours looking for Randall...until Shane leads Rick into a clearing where Shane plans to shoot him. That clearing? It's possible that Shane didn't actually have the stomach to kill his best friend and kept walking and walking trying to talk himself into it or to come up with some other plan. If Rick hadn't confronted him, perhaps Shane would have changed his mind. During their confrontation it almost sounded like Shane was still trying to convince himself that killing Rick was the right thing to do.

I like the show, but best not to think too deeply. The willing suspension of disbelief is a key ally in enjoying it.

I finally watched the 2 season premiere of the walking dead. Even though I watched it ondemand, I fast forwarded through alot of commercials. It was more commercials than show. but .... It was really good. Now I'm wondering what happen to the little girl and if the boy dies from the shot gun wound. Also it was by accident aiming for the deer, and I wonder if its the same people who may have run into the girl.:shrug: (if she is still alive!)

Can't wait to watch the next one! I was not disappointed. However, there was a question to apart of the show. Why did they think they could tell if it was the girl the zombie may have eatten? Its all flesh when it goes down.

Should i tell you what happens or should i just keep my mouth shut?

Basically lots of fan service, blood and guts and violence,Watched the series myself and it gets...a little frisky at some points for my taste. No doubt the Anime community would classify it as a Harem style( which is widely criticized by westerners)

As for the zombies, they showed a helicopter passing overhead while the horde was in the city. The horde was following that chopper when they heard the gunshot. It was just really bad timing.


I'm intrigued by the new character they introduced... it looks like the figure of a woman. I wonder why the zombies with her were so docile. It also looks like the final scene was of a prison, was she from there? I doubt she's with that other group who was with Randall...she seems too intense.

I'm also excited to see what happens to Rick. The season finale seemed like a turning point for him, he actually sounded like Shane. Lori's a cancer as usual... she really likes to create trouble doesn't she? I'd like to see Darryl or Glenn step up and be a leader, but I don't think that'll happen

I'm sure. That's why Carl was "right there" after Shane died. When Rick kills Shane...no farmhouse, no fencing, only the Moon the field and the edge of the forest. When Carl appears, you see he's next to the farm's fence (or at least *a* farm's fence), and right after he shoots walker Shane, they show you the farmhouse right behind Carl, lights blazing in the background (first out of focus, then they refocus on it to show you how close they really were). Then you see the walkers in the woods alighting to the sound of the second shot (not the first).

I have since decided that that it makes more sense, though, since Shane's plan was to say that Randall shot Rick (and then he'd claim he broke Randall's neck). He would need Rick's body to be close to where Randall's was for that (as people would want to bury Rick, and the busy bodies like Darryl would probably check out Randall's body).

Yeah I got that, but the horde was within seconds of the edge of the woods that Rick and Shane just exited. Hundreds of them, but Rick and Shane avoided them all. (Also, the helicopter may have started the herd moving, but they assuredly walk slower than it flew, so they'd be walking for some time.) That it was bad timing doesn't bother me, but it seems unlikely that a dense "leading edge" of the mass just reached that spot *just* after Risk and Shane left the woods, so that they never encountered one another. That herd must have very sharply defined edges indeed, and it must have been *great* timing that Rick and Shane weren't in the woods when the herd came upon them.

I agree, Rick will stay in control. My guess is that his new command style (what the writers call the "Ricktatorship") will be a big source of conflict in the next season.

I loved the 1st season, and I don't usually like zombie shows. It was just maddening to me that the main character didn't ask everyone "WTF is going on here!!" when he woke up... he just kind of accepted it, otherwise great though. I'm trying hard not to read any spoilers here, but seems like Season two has gone downhill a bit?

I was shocked at how awesome this show is. Yes, the second season dragged (I believe this was largely due to their financial issues resulting in the showrunner getting the axe) but it was still dramatic, if not quite of the same punch-you-in-the-face immediacy of the first season.

I was a bit disappointed by a couple of items. The old man using the "Infinity Ammo" cheat code out in front of the farmhouse, for example, and how in spite of the farm being positively lousy with zombies, not one of the survivors catches so much as a scratch. I don't have a problem with the horde rolling up at just the right moment, because it's not as if they hadn't been fighting off stragglers the whole time. The series has been consistent in showing individuals and small groups preceding larger herds, and this was just another example of that.

You can't always expect people to act rationally. Her anger at Rick is more of an misdirected expression of her own quilt. She feels that she caused the whole situation to start with and then likely made things worse when she had the talk with Shane at the Water cooler.

Secondly, what's with Rick turning into a thug all of a sudden? I don't get it.

He's just finally had it with everyone looking at him to be the leader and then second guessing every decision he makes.

I like the series, but there's a lot of stuff the characters do I just don't get. Like, the women flouncing around in dresses and blouses, and not in kick ass boots and fatigues. Also that they didn't start foraging in cars until they were stuck on the Interstate, and they didn't really take the opportunity to upgrade vehicles, hell, grimes was stuck in an APC at one point. The drug store. Why do they keep going back? Take a big bag, take everything, and it's just tough noogies on any other passers by. On that note, find a frikking Wal Mart, and take all the canned goods, water, and sporting goods, or, fortify the place and move in. Why has nobody got a flamethrower? I would lash up a flame thrower from garden implements I have in my shed, namely, the butane weed burner, and the pump spray for delivering weed killer. Strap one to the other, and fill with petrol, job done. That farm,.... no earth works? Seriously? Get a Caterpillar, dig a ditch and bank up the soil, so the walkers fall in the ditch, and are stuck. Even bronze age farmers had earth fortifications.
