If you could travel to any point in the past for a day, but only to observe (no killing Hitler), where and when would it be?
Crusades
If you die and, much to your surprise but not regret, find yourself standing before God, what would you ask him?
Why did you never show yourself?

If you could have lunch with any three historical figures (assume you have a Star Trek Univeral Translator); who would they be?
Hitler. Odysseus. Constantine.

The president, vise-president, and Speaker of the house have all been killed. Since no one can remember who comes next in the succession; it is decided that you will serve out the rest of Obama's term. What would you do in your first hundred days?
Cut spending and taxes.

My favorite philosopher is either Nietzsche or LaVey; I've read Nietzsche but no Rand but I've read about her.
I'd strongly recommend that you read Atlas Shrugged, also The Fountainhead.
I'm not afraid of dying, but of what might come after. I'm most afraid of the prospect that there is nothing.
There's a poem by Philip Larkin that expresses this very well:

I work all day, and get half-drunk at night.
Waking at four to soundless dark, I stare.
In time the curtain-edges will grow light.
Till then I see what's really always there:
Unresting death, a whole day nearer now,
Making all thought impossible but how
And where and when I shall myself die.
Arid interrogation: yet the dread
Of dying, and being dead,
Flashes afresh to hold and horrify.

The mind blanks at the glare. Not in remorse
-- The good not done, the love not given, time
Torn off unused -- nor wretchedly because
An only life can take so long to climb
Clear of its wrong beginnings, and may never;
But at the total emptiness for ever,
The sure extinction that we travel to
And shall be lost in always. Not to be here,
Not to be anywhere,
And soon; nothing more terrible, nothing more true.

This is a special way of being afraid
No trick dispels. Religion used to try,
That vast moth-eaten musical brocade
Created to pretend we never die,
And specious stuff that says No rational being
Can fear a thing it will not feel, not seeing
That this is what we fear -- no sight, no sound,
No touch or taste or smell, nothing to think with,
Nothing to love or link with,
The anaesthetic from which none come round.

And so it stays just on the edge of vision,
A small unfocused blur, a standing chill
That slows each impulse down to indecision.
Most things may never happen: this one will,
And realisation of it rages out
In furnace-fear when we are caught without
People or drink. Courage is no good:
It means not scaring others. Being brave
Lets no one off the grave.
Death is no different whined at than withstood.

Slowly light strengthens, and the room takes shape.
It stands plain as a wardrobe, what we know,
Have always known, know that we can't escape,
Yet can't accept. One side will have to go.
Meanwhile telephones crouch, getting ready to ring
In locked-up offices, and all the uncaring
Intricate rented world begins to rouse.
The sky is white as clay, with no sun.
Work has to be done.
Postmen like doctors go from house to house

What's your biggest regret in life so far?

What is your favourite painting/work of art and why?

If you could be anywhere in the world right now where would it be?

Does the prospect of your own death scare you more than the death of a loved one?

Does your Islamic upbringing still affect your world view?

What's your biggest regret in life so far?
I don't have any major regrets yet

What is your favourite painting/work of art and why?
I don't remember the name or artist, but it was one where a lady sat at a make up studio and all of it together, viewed in a certain way, also resembled a skull. I liked it because the theme was "all is vain"

If you could be anywhere in the world right now where would it be?
Somewhere cool and rainy.

Does the prospect of your own death scare you more than the death of a loved one?
No....and yet, yes.

Does your Islamic upbringing still affect your world view?
Yes, in the sense that it has shaped me being a social conservative.

Could you expand on this?

I value the lives of my loved ones, obviously; but it's hard not to value my own life more. If I die, I am gone; if they die, I still live. Might sound selfish, but

Madanthony, decent poem, but I have a hard time understanding.:)

If you could relay just one thing for everyone to remember that helped you through your life, what would that one thing be?

If you could go back to any period of time in the past which would it be? Why? Which famous person of the time would you seek out if any?

This is really a tough one.

I would either go back to the Crusades and seek out Saladin; I would do this because this period of time was one of great conflict and many heros.

Or, I would go back to WWII and seek out Hitler; I would do this because the man interests me greatly.

If you had the power to change the leader of a nation which one would it be and what type of alternate leader would you replace him with? Explain why you chose that particular nation or leader?

Either:

Syria; I'd change alAssad with a more libertarian, pro-science leader; the reason is 'cause that is my hometown, of course!

US: I'd change Obama with Ron paul; 'cause I live here!

If you were alone standing in an astronaut suit, alone in space standing with magnetic strap on boots holding you to the vast endless arrays of solar cells stretching for thousands of miles across space, above you stars shining so brightly and soundly reflecting in the vast amount of solar cells...your radio was not functioning...your oxygen supply regenerated infinitely from CO2 and your food cycle inside the suit was enough to last for many thousand of years to come, the cell regeneration cycle was active...meaning you would practically never die as long as the power from solar arrays was there.

So, now, North fire...would you believe in God than? to save you if you opened the helmet to the vacuum outside? Or would you wait for thousands of years until a chance would slip by and a spaceship rescued you?

It depends. If I'm just stuck there and there's no way to move or anything, then I'd let myself die. But that doesn't mean I'd believe in God. I'd just let myself die.

what if you saw a vision of God than...after spending who knows what time alone in vastness of space and darkness...would you?
