Or bring your system uptodate with the latest service packs it is not like it used to be with Win98 and ME tghe service packs actually work and they actually help stop virus's from running the long one up your ass. If you dont bring the system upto date you might as well just continue to say Awe fuck this windows is shit.
Oh yeah...
(And no, please don't tell me to accept automatic updates: I've had TERRIBLE experiences with those and I have had YouTube working great with the current set up).

There was no implication that I even considered Windows to be shit.
I've been using Windoze since version 3.0 for home computing and was on the Win95 Beta Test roster.

Well I myself used to shy away from updates but not any more they have come a long way and he head aches do become less with an updated system the only reason I would not up date a system is if it was priated but I can tell from your posts that you would never do that so come into the 21 century and get that beast up to date.

I've attempted updates four times in the last year and each every time it's locked up my system and screwed things so badly I had to do a fresh re-install. Never again.

Well I would say you have something with a bad driver and that it is unlikely it is the updates fault but yes that could be a issue. So you say this works on all other Flash sites just you tube is bust.

Yep.
The Adobe site says I have the latest drivers and plays the test video fine. I have no problems with videos linked from YouTube, just that annoying bloody message with every video I've tried ON YouTube.
Weird...

Sorry dude not sure what this one would be it has to be something related to Youtube are you posative it is in the excepted sites and not in the excluded sites just a thought I have made mistakes like that in the past.

So have I!
And then kicked myself heartily. But it's definitely "exceptions" (I checked again before this post :D)

Move to China, there no one can use YouTube since its banned, there you could start a life of non capitalistic brainwashing and live the dreamy communistic sensation of Chinese Government.

Have you tried grabing your monitor and shaking it, while yelling "WORK MOTHERFUCKER WORK..YOU PIECE OF SHIT..GOD DAMN YOU..I SWEAR I WILL THROW YOU OUT THE FUCKING WINDOW IF YOU DON'T WORK THIS TIME!" if that doesn't work...

You could all so try to kick it and throw it across the room and then deliver a flying scissors kick to it as well.

Have you tried clearing the cache/temp files for the browser? Have you checked the Content tab to make sure Java is enabled?

I don't know what else to suggest... :(

dywyddyr I take it you've tried to uninstall all of Java and reinstall it. What did you say happened?

Lets see....he messed something up after an install and now days later cant watch a youtube video.

I recommend spending another hour te re-re install.

Nope. Did it the same way as I'd done on the previous occasions.

I recommend spending another hour te re-re install.
One reason I don't want to go for yet another re-install is that it's considerably longer than an hour to get all the software back on.

Why would you recommend Ubuntu for flash video problems? It just opens up a whole other can of worms.

I run it also. It plays, but I wouldn't say there are zero problems. At least not on my install.

But which is easier to troubleshoot? An OS you're familiar with? Or an OS you're unfamiliar with?
