I've noticed this for months, if not years, but in the last week or so it's become crippling. When I edit a post the edit window opens quickly, I alter the post fine but when I click 'save' it just sits there, the little Firefox wheel thing just spinning and spinning for at least 30 seconds. In the last week or so it's begun to get worse, sometimes taking several minutes. Yesterday it even caused SciForums to be blocked, in that I was tired of waiting for it so I opened up another tab but SciForums wouldn't load. Other websites worked fine and instantly (I'm on 50 meg cable, I can stream Iplayer HD while downloading a Linux ISO without breaking a sweat). When I killed the edit page tab suddenly the new SciForums tab loaded.
I don't have this problem with other forums so it's something SciForums related, either in terms of some weird code issue in my browser (Firefox 8.0 in a Linux Mint install less than 2 weeks old but I've seen it happen in many different Firefox installs) or something server end with the altering of the forum data taking a long time. It might be post generation related because even loading this post in the 'preview post' page took longer than loading a random thread.
Anyone else had this? Is it me or is it server side?
