Do you believe your astrological sign is tied to your personality?

I keep seeing people here say "I am a typical 'such and such'"
Do scientific people really velieve it or is it more in jest?
 
No, I don't believe that at all.
Perhaps people bring it up in order to make conversation or to break the ice.

I wasn't being mean. Mike's post just made me think of it, which is why I asked about it. There are others here who bring up their astrological sign.

How do they reconcile it if they have a scientific mind? Is it just for fun or is there a bit of them that believes it?

Gotta disagree with you there.
The established personality traits of a Zodiac sign IMO are quite different than the daily horoscopes for each sign.

There are several articles about the traits of a Capricorn. at least 90% of the information in any one of them more or less hits the nail right on the head.

However, I do not read daily/weekly/monthly hororscopes. They are the equivalent of the psychic friends network.

I'm by nature, a very skeptical person, so this got approached with just as much caution as all the other hair-brained occult crap. However, once I started reading the personality traits of Capricorns, I found that a lot of what they list is me to a freakin tee. It's very difficult to be skeptical when something is so accurate.
Funny thing is, one of the Capricorn articles I read even mentions that Capricorns are skeptical by nature, even though they have a strong fascination for the occult and bizarre.

For example, Scorpios are known for being spitfires. My mom is a Scorpio and I've seen her get pissed off pretty easily before.
