First of all, I'm not vegan, but I need some unbiased info for a debate. Can Vegans truly get everything they need for maximum health using supplements/B12 enriched foods and non animal sources? And is there really such a thing as B12 supplements that don't have any animal sources? I find that hard to believe.
I don't know exactly, but I do know a vegan that has been living that way for a decade or so, and he is much healthier than me. He's a soldier in Iraq now. Where do animals get their B12?
B12 is made from micro organisms that are found inside the stomachs of animals. I think there's also a form of B12 found inside certain plants, but from what I've been reading people need some of the animal B12 as well. Although the amount of animal B12 needed is very little, since the human body stores enough B12 to last for years.
It is my understanding that if you are not careful the diet may be deficient in some critical amino acids.
suplements arnt as effective as eating the food ESPECIALLY for b12 (though this one can actually be easerly sourced). its the essental fatty acids which make up your brain which are hard to source.
Sorry I can't help with details but I know several people ages 39 to 66 who have been vegans their entire life with minimal problems.
1 takes few supplements, 2 take none, 1 I don't know. They all educate themselves on food content, read labels, etc but I don't recall B12 being mentioned. I can probably ask sometime in the next few days.
Is it possible that people who are omnivores are healthier than vegans? I keep hearing that we need amino acids, and some other stuff that are only found in meat, and I read somewhere that the top doctors and health care experts all eat meat.
of course, its POSSABLE to remain healthy on a vegan diet but only if your very careful and you will still miss out on lots of the essential fatty acids which are only found in large volumes in seafood Its much easier to do it on an omnivores diet because thats how we were ment to be. Yes you can get health problems from not eating a balanced diet no matter what you eat but it takes ALOT less effort to make an omnivores diet balanced and healthy than a vegans.
Sure. If you're really interested, just look up "vegan diet" on the internet, and check out the many vegan websites. There's a lot of information out there. Vegan diets are in no way inherently any less healthy than diets that include meat. In fact, meat diets can have their own health problems.
hey james, i ment to ask you do you drink wine and beer? Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! you do realise they use a protine from fish bladders to clarify it and it wont apear on the lables anymorePlease Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
That's juts a European thing I believe. America only has a few beers like this, all of which are imports... They also use Pig...stomach...or something from the pig in many darker beers. I'd also like to know for kosher reasons the answer to this question.
actually no, it was australian wines the artical was about the artical was about an accepted proposal to remove the "this product containes fish products" from australian wine lables because the traces remaining arnt anywhere near enough (according to allergy specialists and the australian and new zeland food standeds board) to cause an alergic reaction.
Well..it's in darker beers as well...do you know anything about that? And I am almost certain Kosher wine has none of that in it.
i dont know that much about kosher to be honest because im not jewish or islamic. about all i know is that a cabonara is banned, as is pig and shellfish (this is REAL fish not shell fish BTW) and that the method of killing the animals is cruel and should be outlawed in australia
I just read that if all humans stopped eating meat, eventually humans would go back to having smaller brains. Is this true? It makes perfect sense, since cavemen were practically brainless, then they ended up evolving and getting smarter, while spending most of their time hunting, then eating the meat from their kills.
