What’s the Worst Big Budget Film?

I don't really care about what others like to watch, unless I want to spend some time with her.:D

Have I been disappointed by movies I had high expectations for? Yes, I have, but I consider that a small price to pay for all the great movies I have seen and I'm not about to give up watching movies because of a few I didn't like much.

The Box

A disfigured man named Arlington Steward (Frank Langella) informs Norma (Cameron Diaz) and Arthur (James Marsden) Lewis that they have 24 hours to decide if they want to push a button inside a box that will give them a cool million -- but a complete stranger will die at the same time. Richard Kelly (Donnie Darko) writes and directs this thriller based on sci-fi writer Richard Matheson's short story.

Michael Bay's Transformers 1 and 2, I didn't bother to watch 3.

Love Actually makes me want to hurt myself.

Battle Los Angeles, boring and stupid.

The Green Hornet, a bad idea done badly.

Yeah, remakes are just lazy. If it doesn't merit being called a "reboot," then it shouldn't be made (i.e., Batman Begins is acceptable, Stieg Larsen remakes are not).

I will confess for a certain soft-spot for Waterworld, but it's as much because it's so ham-fisted and corny that it's semi-hilarious. And I like all the associated legends of retarded production costs, the fact that it basically ended Costner's career as a blockbuster leading man, etc.
 
Nicolas Cage has starred in a number of shitty movies within the last few years, and although Ghost Rider was the worst of the lot I'm not sure if that qualifies as big budget. But if it does, then Ghost Rider and Escape from L.A. are my 1,2 worst big budget movies ever made. Hard to believe there's going to be a Ghost Rider 2! Number 3 would It's Complicated... which was definitely big budget and agonizing to watch such talented and likable actors struggling with unfathomably bad material.

If the movie is a lousy sequel to a movie I especially liked, then I will tend to hate it more than the sum of its parts, and even hate it more than a far worse movies. The sequels/prequels to The Matrix, Spiderman, Transformers, Star Wars, Highlander, Boondock Saints, Dumb and Dumber come mind.

Does that mean " because you watched the whole thing" it's not complete crap? Whatever, sometimes when I watch the whole thing it's only because it's better than the alternatives at the moment. But that could also be like voting for the lessor of two evils.

Brilliant film.
Biased though. I could watch a film of Kate Winslet playing dominoes.

In fact, if I'd been a passenger on the Titanic playing dominoes with Kate Winslet,
I'd have probably stayed.

I'm a hopeless judge on this.
Looking at the other films so far listed, I haven't watched 95%+ of them.
I can't find another apart from Titanic.

I saw a James Bond film once.
I've never managed to watch one since.

Kate Winslet does not make film good!

I concur with Dywyddyr in that "Titanic" was poor - certainly not (imho) deserving of the accolades it achieved, and not a film I have sat through more than once.

Alexander was pretty ropey, although I did get the Director's Cut DVD in the hope that it was the studio who ruined it so badly... but it didn't help much!

Batman & Robin was just awful.

I'm sure someone with a decent ability to direct a film will one day make a prequel-trilogy to Star Wars episodes 4, 5 and 6.

The latest Indiana Jones and the Implausible Plot With Aliens was dire, with Harrison Ford looking far too old to play the role, and looking like a pastiche of himself.

Pilates of the CurryBean should have ended after the first film... as I found the second and third to be almost painful to watch.

And by far the worst... the entire awful, abysmal, painful, pathetic and insulting "Twilight" saga.

Anyhoo - just my views. :)

ditto. LOVED the first one. My son was surprised when I pointed out the references to it in Metal Gear Solid

I hear they are working on a prequel of how Snake lost his eye in teh Battle of Leningrad

Yes, a few: Pirates of The Caribbean, Speed. I feel like there's more, but I'm having trouble recollecting.
