In the cricket

Desert Reds?
Ants?

I don't know what sex my skippy is. Haven't checked.
I haven't seen a skinny pink thing waving around, so he must be a girl, like Pietersen.
I like your ideas for a new series of Skippy with a male Kangaroo.
Sounds like it could appeal to the interests of today's yoof.
Everyday's yoof in fact. HBO might run it.

Maybe now that the Australian team are a bunch of confused failures,
you could start an Australian version of the Barmy Army.

What's the weather like in Australia?
We have just had the darkest day of the year, grey and miserable all day long.
Horrible.

Kremmen: The train arrives in Perth tomorrow.
This seems a lot longer that three days.

At Perth.
Skippy has just sent me a photo of his hotel room from his new mobile phone.

I've got a nice place to stay myself. This is the hotel.

It's so popular, I've had to share my room. This is my room mate, Gurdwar.

Perth was a lovely 28 degrees today..
what hotel is Skippy staying in?? and what room? i'll go visit him/her. I'm in the city now..

I'm jealous.
Today is better.
It didn't really get light at all yesterday, and it was drizzling.
I had that winter blues thing all day long.

Not sure which hotel it is.
Lovely room though.
He doesn't lie on the bed, or sit on the chair, he perches on the top of the big cupboard.
Skippy, I mean, not Gurdwar, though I wouldn't put it past him.

Perth will be sunny and warm for the next 5 days. Clear crisp light, quite windy.

That's how it is at this time of year and yes Desert Reds, big red kangaroos from the outback, Macropus rufus.

Sorry to hear you have the SADS (medical term) Kremmen, I get them in our Winter if we get three cloudy days or the daytime temperature goes below 15C for a couple of days.

On the Eastern side of the country we are having a moist, warm start to summer, a cracker thunderstorm just rattled through. It was about 27C today, lovely. This time last year it was dry as buggery (official description), 42 degree days, firestorms, shit like that.

Not sure why but I think England's bubble might burst in Perth, god knows the series needs the Aussies to fight back.

*personal note, the genius son, drilled his year 12 exams and got a full scholarship for Medicine at Monash.
/proud dad

I hope so.
An easy win for England now would bring further hot coals down on poor Ponty's overwrought noggin.
Last time I saw him his careworn green cap looked like it wanted to run away and jump in a dustbin.

I got some vitamins yesterday, and ate some liver and onions.
They are my patent cure for all life's ailments.

Congrats to the son.
He must have worked very hard.
Is he an Inthecricket reader?
We could have some medical material soon.

yes, congrats to your boy Spud!! Monash is tops for medicine.
CK, you're right, we will need medical advice soon, is there a remedy for tears?? If so, can we administer 200 cc's of it to Ponty..
or atleast be on stand by to treat him.
i very much doubt things will change in Perth..
i'm an Aussie, but i'm not a fan of our current team.. Ponty needs to go and give Pup a go..
Ponty is a schmuck (in my opinion of course)

How can you say such things about poor Ponty

Green Cap: Please, someone, throw me in the bin.
I've lived so long, seen so much misery.

It's Strauss's turn to get a good score.
If he is patient for an hour or two tomorrow, he could post a high one.
The pundits says it's a good batting pitch.
If we can declare on 750 at the end of the 3rd day, we're home.......

Or will there be another turn?

He needs to be careful of the first over of the day.
The loss of a wicket then is becoming a commonplace of the tour.

just when i thought it couldn't get any worse..
we really suck.. :(
time for an upgrade, out with the old, in with the new..

Kat, Kremmen.
The game is still well and truly on.

This is probably my last possible chance to talk Australia up but,....BUT...,tomorrow is another day, Johnson is getting that cranky bastard "can't keep me down for too long, feed me some Poms" expression.

Poms out for 298, Aussies 2nd dig 325 (Hughes 70),
Aussies win by 100 runs.
Next test!

Cranky? Ain't good enough.
Remember the good old days.......................

Now he was a bad bastard!

On a completely different subject.
What would you say is a fair price for a salmon fish head?
My local supermarket had one for sale at 74p.
I think that's excessive.
The only people who would buy them are poverty stricken OAPs for their cats, or people with a family of Seagulls to feed.
They should be a token price, say 10p

Could someone explain this game to me? LOL! Call it being tired, but I can't understand it...

You're an American like me...I don't think we are supposed to understand it...

It's kinda like baseball...But, totally different...Hell, I dunno..

Both sides wear the same uniforms too...Too confusing.

very good day for the Aussies..
Mitchell Johnson saved the day!!! and the dorks dropped him from the previous test!! DORKS!!!!!
i'm trying really really hard not to get into the cricket, coz it's not very feminine, but i can't help it :( poor me....
i'm not butch, i promise...
(not that there is anything wrong with butch girls, that's not what i'm saying, i'm just stating that i'm not one....not that it's bad to.. umm..i might just stop typing)
ok, i'm off to the casino.
- CK, i'm anticipating your next post!!
bye..

Johnson. Good call Spud.
A bad day for the English team, but a good day for the competition.
A draw for this match is now out of the question, and an Australian win likely.

I did feel that the English team were trying too hard to score in the early play.
It's a dangerous pitch with a new ball.

@Christa. The basic game is simple. It's a team game where each side bats in turn, and the other side try to stop them from scoring.
The batsman hits the ball, and the other side can get him out either by catching the ball before it hits the ground, or by knocking the bails off the wicket (three sticks) behind the batsman.

Nobody watches the whole of a 5 day game. You watch bits of it and then go off and do other things. Then you watch a bit more. The game sort of goes on in the background. All you need to know is the current score, and be able to say a few wise words about the current batsman or bowler, or the pitch, or how old the ball is. (As the ball gets more worn it is easier for the batsmen to hit) With a Test series, it goes on in the background for a whole season. The commentators, four or more of them, also drift in and out, and spend a lot of their time talking about things that have nothing to do with the game at all. Especially, cakes that people have sent in, and birds on the pitch. Much as we do on this thread.

@kat. Good Luck at the casino.

England 1.5
Australia 0.5

Has there been some change I didn't hear about?
You'll crash and burn soon enough.

Bet you enjoyed Pietersen's Duck.:D
There would have been some considerable whooping, and jumping up and down throughout the whole of Australia.

How did he leave the pitch?
Was his swagger muted at all?
I haven't seen it so I'll give you the pleasure of describing it.

Skippy just sent me this photo. He's got his own agent now.

(280409165702)kangaroo_jack_2.jpg

Pietersen, Skippy, and Brian McTavish, Skippy's agent.

Pietersen: Skippy. Could you look for my sunglasses again?

I was working all day and was only getting the scores in snippets so I didn't have the pleasure of seeing the duck footed ponce skulking off the ground.

I did see most of the last session (there's a significant time difference between the two sides of the country and the last session finishes at 8:30 PM). Aussies still having to fight very hard to gain the acendancy.

Lots of good cricket left in this game.
I liked your description of the tests going on as a backdrop to life.
I've worked on outdoor sites where the cricket plays on the radio all day long, good stuff.

The kanga in the pic, he's a big red.

Australia's form batsmen are at the crease with some decent support to follow. If all goes well, we can put this game out of England's reach by stumps tonight.
