I think its a great idea and great plot...them pushing all those buttons randomly. Vaporizing everything and warping in and out.
We didn't get to see them as teenagers, they were all grown in their mid twenties or later. They would have to make teenager star trek before star trek babies.
Though the actors look like they are in there early 20's, some of them are in the 30's, the new Spock for example. This movie was not really about see them young as it was about "rebooting" the series.

So what? Star trek is nothing but a parody of science as it is. Why not make it a parody of everything else?
