Not me, I was checking out Michelles clothes. :roflmao: the pink coat with the black flowers was UGLY!!!!
Yeah, but did you see what the Queen was wearing. And don't even get me started on her hair. Lord love a duck
That it I no longer have connection with this world, if this is what passes for news, Its best I kill my self eating several dozen vogue magazines.
Well when you are reduced to picking at minor details, it just goes to show the weakness of your position.

It only matters if you believe the US should act like it is the most powerful country in the world. Especially for Obama to be kissing someone's ring as the US President is unsightly and a clear sign of him behaving in a subservient manner. Perception is reality and it counts for a lot.
Actually Obama is a citizen of the world. Unlike most Americans, he actually knows something about the culture of the places he goes to. Margaret Thatcher did the same thing and no Englishmen had the vapors. I'm not even certain he actually kissed the ring, or just made a bow. The only thing such comments reveal is the general ignorance of the American public. The Saudis are their biggest allies and yet they lump them with "Muslims" and feel slighted if their President greets an ally in the cultural way he is used to. I actually heard a Vietnam vet getting all choked up about it. I could only marvel at his utter stupidity.
I doubt the king was involved. Considering those Saudis who are anti-US are also against their dictatorial monarch. But, carry on.
Since Obama does not have financial ties to the Saudi Royal family as did his predecessors and George II, Clinton, George I, I doubt there was anything untoward in his actions. SAM does have a point, common courtesy is perfectly appropriate and smart. It is better to have friends than enemies. This is called spreading influence. Now I know some of you on the right have a very hard time with this issue. but you don't win firends by pissing on their legs. If you want to get personal, George II was photographed holding hands with the Saudi King. And it was the Saudi's who bailed George II out of his failed business. The Saudi's have a lot invested in George II.
S, you're partially right, if it was any of us, who cares, but for those heads of state at their bigshot meetings, its protocol, appearance on a similar note, I'm not sure if any US president has ever kissed the pope's ring, but if I was president of the US or any other major country, I'd follow the first among equals protocol, wouldn't you or would you kiss the pope's ring or Saudi king? check out how the Obamas did the UK queen v. Saudi king; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4gJtIss7xso dang, I don't even like wearing shirt & tie, not planning on being a bigshot either, I won't ever have to worry about bowing to any bigshot anyway
You're right, he looks politely bored with the Queen and ecstatically joyous at meeting the king. Clearly it should be the other way around. Guys always jump when meeting little old ladies and act bored around kings
