It's funny - this past Sunday there was an organized boycott of Israeli wines at the biggest liquor store in Toronto - and a friend dragged me there to be part of the counter demo. The counter protesters were so many that the boycott protesters just left, and the Israeli wines were sold out not only at that location but also at all the nearby stores too

You've already barked up this tree. It's already been discussed that it's almost impossible to boycott Israel. End of story.

In fact, this attempted boycott has HELPED Israeli products

I was joking with my friend that next time they should try to boycott other Israeli products too so that they'll also get sold out

Funny that last pic seeing as how US business kept doing business with the Nazis even though they knew what they were doing in Germany.

Funny indeed, since it's evidence to my statement.

Yep. The Holocaust was so successful thanks to IBM's punch-card technology. It's disgusting, and proves that boycotts don't work. My marketing professor at university said the same thing - boycotts and campaigns never work.

Meh, they may not work in a couple of places, but overall, Israeli boycotts seem to be picking up pace and sooner or late they may influence Israel. If Israel continues on the path it is now, it will lead itself to its own demise.

Some of you are missing the wood for the trees. The important aspect of this boycott, is that the NEGATIVE perception of the assault on Gaza and thus the NEGATIVE perception of Israel is being sustained. This has not occurred before. Response to Israel`s previous illegal military assaults have been limited. This time, Israel crossed a subtle line, and we are seeing a sustained upward curve of outrage.

Strange as this protest was an all Jewish affair:

I'm hearing a lot more about the BDS movement than I used to. Interestingly enough, I am hearing it a lot more from Jews.

There is even one within Israel

    I like this one:

There were 2 groups, one of which was anti-Israeli Jews.

That's a longstanding policy of many countries who are allies of Israel, which is unfortunate, but has nothing to do with boycotting Israel "proper".

Say, Brian, do you have a funny looking mustache with no edges?

Why is it impossible? Does Israel like China make such a wide range of products it exports that there would make it virtually impossible to do?

Do you equate criticism of Israeli politics with anti-semitism?

Yet another reason Israel needs to get out of the West Bank, the sooner the better. The Palestinians are unjustly suffering, this is undeniable. If the West Bank continues to be occupied because of security concerns, why not at least pull the settlers out so only troops remain? At a minimum, make some sort of positive gesture- stop displacing Palestinians to make room for the expansion of those settlements. Having settlers living somewhere to serve as the auxiliary force for an occupation is no different than Hamas and Hezbollah with their human shields. Issues like Gaza and the West Bank are giving the antisemites abundant opportunities to merge their cause with the legitimate protesters who seek a peaceful 2 state solution.

European boycott before = Ok, time to get rid of the settlements and draw a border

European boycott after = Piss off, no rational person would support replacing a democracy with yet another dysfunctional arab imperialist sharia state
