I so badly want Crysis 1, 2 and FEAR 3. But damned if that wouldn't cost a fortune even on Steam or Amazon

I could buy as many games as I would ever need, I have sufficient funds. But I don't think it is a constructive use of my time. I have my occasional afternoons on GTA, to get upto a 10 star. Other than that I curb my gaming for more productive pursuits

I still have GTA4 on my machine. I got about half way through and lost interest. My favorite part of the game is modifying the cars to make them go super fast, but still remain controllable. I had a little CRX that weighed 100,000 pounds and flew like the wind...you could just drive down the street and plow through anything without slowing down.

Whenever I really think I have to acquire something (games are not my thing, but I think the strategy is applicable), I go through my priorities and cut out something else until I have saved up the means.

It does make a difference if one is considering a one time expense, as in purchasing software, or an on-going monthly expense as for the access.

If you cannot afford them, then you shouldn't be playing them imo.

I just waited until the prices came down after a few years. Buying new games , to me, isn't very cost effective so I have the patience to wait but not many do.

I apply the same strategy to most of my major purchases. Most products come down in price as more people buy them, and any inadequacies are discovered and addressed by the time I select an item that has stood the test of time and proven advantageous.

Boringly analytical and practical by nature, I leave the new and novel to those whose money is burning a hole in their pocket, lol....

    Your assessment is unarguably logical.

Affordability is a most important consideration. Debt is an albatross around one's neck, and to be avoided as much as possible.

yeah, someone posted the official doom2 wad online. didn't stay long though.

as far as i can tell WAD makers out there are respecting IDs wishes of not making their WADs shareware compatible.
i'm sure there are wads that will work on the shareware version but i haven't run across any.

    viva DOOM !
it put first person shooters on the map.
their concept user generated wads has forever changed the face of computer games.
almost every first shooter since has included a built in editor.
doom had no such editor the players themselves created it.
ID eventually released the source code for doom and the players immediately came up with DEHACKED, a program that could alter the very basics of the game.

i'm still looking for someone to play deathmatch or co-op.
DOOM, for those times you just wanna shoot someone in the face.

I would love to buy any and all expansions to the game "Settlers of Catan". Alas, I can afford neither the cost of time or loss of friends...

Money wise, if work or saving isn't enough, I still have my hair, eggs, plasma, and healthy organs to consider as viable options. Do I recommend this venue? Most emphatically no.

The new Game of Thrones:Genesis is a total copout. The game is going to be an rts not an rpg. To me that's a copout. And Fear 3 and Crysis 2 weren't the best of games tbqh.

I was thinking of using Gamefly, but the new, reorganized Netflix will have games too. It will be called Qwikster and for a few bucks extra it will have the games upgrade.

So since we are already paying for it, for a few bucks more I will try out the games too...
