the pop-ups would have to go.
why would bigger avatars be a "selling point"?
i have them turned off in my profile.

Err... why this site? Yes, I read the "welcome" thread. But why do you care that SF mods join?

Do you have anything to gain?

Yes, I have an idea. The idea is to use the tools of my profession to help people get what they want out of a forum.

Time is worth money, whether it's mine, yours, or the administrator's. Why not get the most in the least amount of time?

We already have a moderators' forum. If you're not a moderator, you can't see it.

He could teach you, but then he'd have to kill you... or ban you for three days

OK, the one I'm thinking about is global. Technical resources included.

BTW it's free. How can you beat that?

    Quite professional too.

Who designed this forum? It kind of needs a face lift.

I can link you to a more professional forum with more than 200,000 members and about 1600 participants at any given time . It is also headquartered in Australia. I think it is against the rules to link to another forum isn't it?

Did you get pop-ups when you went there? Are you using a good popup blocker? Also, could you get to the welcome statement?

The voice of optimism speaks. I wrote it. Yeah, it's kind of a fraternal order.

This forum has an optimistic caveat as well: it's called an "intelligent forum." How do you like my idea of an IQ test for sciforums members in order to join?

Also, how about measures to show one's health, like signal to noise ratio?

I have the authority to control whoever joins or is terminated. Besides we'll be talking about SA issues and stuff. A real bore for the airhead types around here.

Well let's forget that idea. I want the sciforums people to stay here. It would be like opening the door to the loonie bin.

I also read one of my own threads that was locked up where you and invert nexus were having quite a "dialogue." The emotional side of the brain was being very well used I might add.

Oh forgive me as we confess each others sins.

Ok your signal to noise ratio improved. Personally I like the idea of a threshold S/N where you don't see comments from people below a certain percentage that you set for yourself.

All parties would understand the system, whereby a comment is not worthy of response unless the threshold S/N is met.

Also there should be a free-for-all forum, where the fussy types can go dump their emotional baggage without fear of reprisal.

Perhaps after the intelligent discussion is done, the thread could be moved to the free-for-all forum where the uncivil types can bash it up all they want to.
