The Memphis newspaper, which is your typical liberal media, just created a site to which you can look up who has concealed carry permits in Tennessee. I love it because they didn't seem to give it a thought that if I am a robber and planning on robbing a specific person, I would look that person up on that site and see if they carry. If they don't, then I know they are a prime target. I like the site because I want people to know that I pack.
Boy, that seems strange to me. I guess they feel that criminals don't do their homework. A better crime deterrent would be to just publish some inflated number of registrations with no identities attached. For instance, out in the stix where I live, perps know there's a 50/50 chance of dodging bullets if they break in to houses randomly.
No really, what was the reasoning behind it? Has it always been public knowledge or did someone sue to make it so? If so, why?
It has been public knowledge, it just was not so easy to look up those records. The media is very liberal and is against firearms. Their intent is to expose everyone who has a permit, as if it is a shameful act. I am glad they published it. I want people to know that I pack. Criminals can now look up a person to see if they carry a weapon, especially women. If they do, then they would probably be far less likely to rob her, even at her own home, knowing that if she carries one on her, then she probably has more at home too. So if a criminal see that someone doesn't pack, then he/she could be a prime target. I love it!
In Texas they had a exemption to CCW, that if a store or property wanted, it could post a notice at the entrances, that CCW wasn't permitted on premises. And if you were caught carrying on premises, it could endanger your right to CCW. Guess where the robbery rates spiked as certain liberal companies and store owners posted those signs, I'll bet you can't guess. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
do you really think criminals are so smart and industrious that they put all that effort into robbing someone? Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
I seriously doubt it! Besides, even if they went to the trouble (and most probably never read anything anyway), they would not be able to identify anyone unless they went to all the trouble to follow them from home. So I honestly don't see it as being any kind of deterrent at all.
How much information does the website list? Is it just first name / last name, or does it list address, phone number, date of birth, etc?
