on death row.

What would yours be?

It is a three course meal.

Mine:

Starter:

My brothers gammon soup with lurpak buttered brown bread.

Main:

Fillet steak, baked potato with butter and cheddar cheese, fried tomatoes, onion rings with salt and colmans English mustard.

Desert:

My mothers homemade rice pudding.

Gołąbki soup to start - Ground beef, cabbage, onions, celery, green pepper and rice in a beef broth/tomato stock.
Whole pizza with everything for a main course.
Cheese cake with Rocky Road ice cream for dessert.

The Polish starter sounds lovely :) Pizza, nice, cheese cake with ice cream delicious.

Fine meal :)

Those are two things I cannot put together, waiting for death and enjoying food.
Agree. My father, when he was dying at the age of 94, asked for a glass of beer, which he sipped a little of and said how good it was.

Tokaji aszu was reputedly what was offered to the Emperors of Austria-Hungary on their deathbed.

That sort of thing seems more practical in the circumstances than steak and chips.

Yes impending death would be an appetite killer for me.
Double vodka and beer to follow. Probably Belgian or a New York brew called resin, 9.2%

Absolutely not a first date drink but could fit in with a lethal injection.

Along the Tokaji axis, a small glass of a good Sauternes might fit the bill for me.

Not sure the idea is that you finish a steak and taters to the bite. You savour it, as the last thing you're going to taste in this world.

Does that change anyone's thoughts?

No because the chances are you won't have any appetite. It's not like awaiting execution, when you are in good health.

What sort of life would it be waking up everyday for 15 years(some do) not knowing if you were going to die that day? Followed by 15 years of prison food.

It would be a relief when the day comes, as you would no longer fear death, if you ever did in the first place, many people don't including me, it's just the how I die that I worry about. Lethal injection, sweet peace after 15 years of intense stress.

There's a reason you get a choice of your last meal, anything you want, before you're executed, many do take up the offer, of course many take up the offer but throw it away.

Your answer is valid, but you don't know unless you've been there. So really my question assumed you wouldn't fear death.

Killjoy was the only one that got it.

I cannot separate them.

A better scenario for me would be to go away with an alien race voluntarily, knowing I could only ever eat live sustaining nutrition only like protein pills from then on.

Last meal on earth before I leave.

Indian curry, hot.

Nice.

Madras is as hot as I go, you a Fal man?

I think dw04 has a point; convicts spend a long time on death row to come to terms with their fate. I imagine most have made their peace with it by the time the day comes.

Regardless, I think the details of the final day are beside the point: if it were the last meal you were going to taste, what meal would you like to remember?
