Post a picture of your keyboard and tell us why you bought it. I use to have this http://www.saitekusa.com/usa/prod/eclipseii.htm because I got a giftcard at Christmas and bought one. Unfortunately for me the keyboard sucked badly. Why you ask? The backlit keys were barely discernable in the night, I was amazed they even bothered lmao. Around a 1 1/2 months later some of the keys stopped working. Mostly the L and O key but also the stupid thing wasn't very easy to get typing, in the end I was pressing very hard just to get words :( This lead me to:

Which although cheap, and not very rich, at least the keys work right :) I was planning to buy another backlit keyboard but with the horror stories I've been hearing about paint wearing off, or the LED's buring out weeks later, I'd say this is the end of the line for them.

So yeah my experiences have overall been terrible with expensive keyboards.

Let me also caution all of you, although Microsoft makes ok hardware it's not perfect. I bought 1 of their mice awhile back and the thing had a piece break off, later when I got the same one the optical beam would not cut on when moving it just a tad, so it ended up driving me nuts. I finallly got wise and bought a Logitech, but the keyboard I figured was ummm negotiable :L

Didn't wanna spend another 70 bucks, lmao

I use a "Logitech Internet Navigator" Keyboard

That's odd. I wonder why they backlit a solid black keyboard? I guess they were going for a sort of 'glow' effect around the keys --- kinda like how they do with console game controllers

At any rate, if you were wanting to buy a fancy (and relatively expensive) backlit illuminated keyboard, you would be better off buying something like this -- the Eluminx:

I've been drooling over this keyboard for a while now actually.

Oh wait --- here's one that's around 25 bucks

I have some old keyboard from 486 era with an adapter for PS/2 port.
Not because I like to recycle. It's because it's firm and it's good both for typing and games.

The cheapest and most compact generic keyboard I could find.
I'll probably buy a new one though, this one's too loud.

p.s. Blacklit keyboards are only for those who need to look at keyb while typing. :p

let's see, i've just counted my keys and there are 102 of them.
it also is missing the F9 key.
the letters on E and O keys are worn off.

Current Keyboard because it was the cheapest keyboard that fit my specifications. wired. I like wired interface much better than wireless. It is more stable. If you have me a wired and a wireless, I would likely end up using the wired. I have always liked the PS/2 interface better than USB 2, but now that I learned how to mod a Playstation 3, USB keyboard is mandatory.

Dream Keyboard.

....and for people that want to look slick at lan parties.

... When your computer fails to boot because your PSU can't handle all the USB devices drawing power from it.

I guess thats the next thing to do, the Swiss Army Knife of Computers, how many things can you plug into it and run at the same time :)

I have a cheapo black IBM 19.99 keyboard, the same one I used to have at work before I spilled OJ all over it (oops, giggle, giggle). They hooked me up with this shiny new DELL keyboard with this silver-colored lining all the way around it. It has a media toggle on the upper right and a few buttons for bringing up email and 'My Computer' but not overkill on that kind of stuff - I like it simple. I tried to find it online since I've been meaning to buy a new keyboard, but I couldn't find it. I swear my company gets deals no one else does. Grrr.

Nik, please do not buy one. I purchased the Saitek II and it sucked. Around 3 months later the keys stopped working, L & O wouldn't work at all. I couldn't get it to work right, who the heck knows why. The Saitek I had a problem with the paint fading even though (aren't keyboards made of plastic ).

Weirdness surroundes these keyboards, avoid them.
